Why would you not want an MRI. Other than a stick to inject the contrast it's completely painless. And it's better than ultrasound for spotting possible HCC issues which, as you know, are possible with cirrhosis.

Syd.
I met with my specialist yesterday. He was pleased with how things went and of course we need to wait the 12 weeks to what really happens from my treatment. Regarding the Ultrasound, he said it was good and no real problems at this time and we would redo it every six months BUT, and this is something I saw on the Hospitals report when I was send there for a 2nd opinion for the very first time. He said, for a guy who is skinny as a rake, you do have a fatty liver however it's not tons and tons. He is not concerned with it at this point. I told him, this is the first time I ever heard that mentioned and I have been seeing him for around 12 years. He simply said, I did not need you to worry about something else. I suppose he is right if he is not concerned with the levels right now. He knew I would not have tolerated the Interferon and mentioned that again as well.
I took in that lab report for him to see that I mentioned in my post because it showed my Iron Saturation. He was not concerned and he was the one who ordered those phlebotomies a few years ago. That being said my ferritin was 800+ and not 80/90 in range, honestly I don't have the number in front of me but it's normal even if my saturation is up a bit. He did say that the drugs do affect many things and play around in your liver, causing inflammation on there own while they do their good work. I suppose we will see if it resolves itself.
All in all I was please with the appointment and I have still not had and MRI or Endoscopy ... I know I know. I don't want either but I am sure at some point one or both might be indicated.
He will to another fibroscan but probably not until 12 months has passed. I won't even argue with him since I know time needs to pass before I could possibly expect any positive change if that happens. My NP is setting up a special clinic and will offer that. It is possible I could get her to do it but time will tell.
That is about it for now, so I wait like so many of you until we finally have that appointment and pray to hear ... SVR

My specialist appointment is tomorrow, May 30th and I will get my results and anything else he has to say.
And what date do you get another (your next) C VL?? Were you booked for another one for 12 weeks after EOT?, soooo, that would be at the beginning of Aug then??
I will get my 12 week C vl end of July but I have two more requisitions from before for my B and lft's I will do that in the next week as it will be week 16.
Will you be asking for, and getting another fibroscan? - I agree, that would be a nice feedback for you to have another fibroscan, just because!, even though it is early times.
Yes I will ask and fight that battle in the future. I don't think having one anytime soon will give me anything spectacular ... I need time to hopefully heal and regress some if I do. Remember my KPA is very high.
How's your iron load now, still good?
My ferritin is fine but saturation still high. I will take the last results tomorrow. Thank you for asking, I nearly forgot. Was not his requisition. I just went and got it right now to take.
How goes everything else - do you discern any feelings of "feeling a bit better". Fatigue, etc??
I think I have more energy and get up feeling better than longer than I can remember.
You threatened to get that bike out after your last snow storm, have you?
Not yet, it's too hot <----- How Canadian of me. I will take it out shortly
I finally saw this!

I don't think it has sunk in fully just yet. The time went by in amazing fashion and relatively pain free.
Personally I don't think it will really have an effect on her until Saturday morning at 5:55a when the alarm goes off. That is when it will sink in that she does not have a pill to take, and why in the heck is she hearing that dang alarm???

What do you two have planned to celebrate her EOT!!
Maybe her last pill falls on a Friday or Sat night??
I know you have a wonderful cruise planned for the both of you later.
But maybe for her EOT day (or shortly thereafte)r she would like a wee celebratory mini-cruise through a nice spa for a day, or something like that? A bit of soothing R&R pampering just for her to unwind herself from the last 12 weeks.
Hope she has a grand weekend ... both of you. It will be a happy day! C.

I just found your "new"news waaay over under "Improvements after treatment" - rightly so - your good news aptly belongs in any good news section!
UND/UND - how great is that! Double the pleasure.
How's it feeling, now that you got to try it on! Mighty fine I bet.
I have other nicknames for most of you, mostly due to memory failure when trying to recall real names/user names etc. Sometimes I would just make one up (it was quicker than trying to remember the actual one people used) when giving my partner a verbal update .... ie. "Texas cracked a real funny one today", "guess what - the kid went UND today (tkflex36)", I just called you "double B" for quite a while". Now when I get stuck, I'll just call you "double UND", fondly.
Great news. About time they revealed it to you! Real happy for you (and so, for all of us). C.

Thanks Brother and yes we are going to have a blast this year. Last year it was a Cruise just before SOT. That plan kind of crashed and burned treatment wise.
This one will be EOT +30. Just enough to catch my wind.
The real special moment will be Hanging The Rooster this year in remembrance of my lost brother who blessed me with it. That will also be the time we remember Carolyn's brother who lost his battle with the same Dragon.
It's all good.

Greetings,
To my fellow passengers now and to come.
This is quite a smooth and easy ride. MY wife has one of the 12 week seats and I am traveling on a 24 week seat.
Both of us now, at week 4 of treatment have been found to be UND.
Currently Carolyn has 10 days remaining and I have 135 days remaining.
If you are thinking about starting treatment but something is holding you back both Carolyn and myself want to tell you first hand, there is nothing to fear and everything to gain from making the decision that now is your time.
It may sound like 135 days is a long time but that is not so bad when I consider we have 166 days before we celebrate our independence from the scourge of Hep C @ Sea.

Booked the cruise

Good Morning,
If I may, I would like to share a rather interesting and kind of fun story. I would like to begin of course by affirming I am a Christian and do not in any way believe in anything surrounding superstitions. I want that perfectly clear before I go into my "fun mode".
<Mode On>
As we all know today is Friday the 13th. It also happens to be the day I did my 4 week after SOT blood draw to determine my HCV RNA VL.
The fact that it is Friday the 13th, and my previous failure, has the sound of Voodoo Drums beating as I drive to the appointment. My fingers grasp the steering wheel a little tighter than normal I noticed and stopped myself.
"Don't be silly, all will be well. The Rooster will dawn The Tree this year you will see."
I am thinking "such a small little voice, is this my subconsciousness talking?"
I think about that some and don't recall ever hearing that before. Very strange indeed.
"This is in fact your lucky day!"
There it goes again but more pronounced. What the heck is that?????
So I continue driving along when suddenly out of the corner of my eye I look to the bottom left of my windshield.
First attachment.
I hear it again, "Buck up dude all is good!"
Second attachment.
"Let me see a smile now, come on you can do it!"
Third attachment.
"There that's better, now when you get home google Lucky Gecko!"
Forth attachment.
Congrats! You read the whole thing! I let my little dude off when I hit the driveway. LOL <Mode Off>

Hi Anna.
The signature box has a limit of 255 characters, symbols or spaces. You are at that limit now so look over your signature and decide if there is some information you would rather delete and replace with your new information, then click 'Save Changes' when you are ready. I was able to edit the coding for your signature box but it only got you 3 more spaces and I know that won't help much. If you are still over the 255 character limit after you make your changes a message box toward the top will notify you. (see attachment) I'm sorry I can't do anything to increase this limit. Let me know if you need any further help.
Congrats on your new lab results and good news about your fibrosis stage! 69 in 3 weeks is awesome! Sounds to me like your going to come out of this smelling like a rose and live happily ever after. Gee, I love it when Harvoni fairy tales come true and it happens a lot around here. Keep up the good work! HYDRATE!!!
Tig? I tried to change my signature to include my new VL at 3 weeks (5-9-16) which is 69, but no amount of editing and saving keeps the new info? Very happy with the VL. I found it interesting that my resting pulse this morning was now 52 - down from my normal 72 (and that's after having a cup of good coffee before driving to the appt). Also a couple of interesting things my doc told me today that I didn't know before and this doc is only responsible for treatments and reading lab results. She said I wasn't a solid F3 and my 10.5 kPa on Fibroscan is not set in stone either. She said I had areas that were F3 and areas that were F2 and they average them out. She also said I'm probably more likely an 8 kPa rather than the 10.5 my gastro doc told me. I'm liking the numbers better, but it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. She spoke in terms of "ranges".
But, I am one happy camper no matter how I look at it and still no side effects - not even the slightest headache. I do feel healthier. Thank you for being a source of support and "atta girl's". It means a lot to feel a part of a community. Anna

Greetings,
This morning, at 5:55a I completed my first of 6 bottles of Harvoni. To date it has been a rather uneventful ride. Amidst promises of Vivid Dreams consisting of Menagerie type Green Women and other such wonders I have experienced nothing of the sort.
This morning however Carol felt compelled to tell me at 5:57a that she had a dream the she was in her KIA with my beloved granddaughter and they found themselves going over the rails and flying to a stop on the side of a green hill.
I commented: "Oh what a terrible NIGHTMARE!!!"
She said: "No we were OK."
I said: "No not that!"
She said: "What then?"
I responded with: "A KIA for crying out loud!"
Bet you could hear the slap all the way to Canada! LOL
Why would you not want an MRI. Other than a stick to inject the contrast it's completely painless. And it's better than ultrasound for spotting possible HCC issues which, as you know, are possible with cirrhosis.
SVR

If so, hint....rewrap said Twinkie for a less hurried and obvious conversation distractor. Go rustle up some brekkie in bed, a scented bath and some good old peace and quiet. who knows with a plot as devious as that she might find herself more keen on a long sugary Twinkie hit than she thought she was.

Thanks guys and yes I will tell her the gang is rooting for her.
$10 says we will be having a discussion on requested revisions to the morning ritual. LOL
Let me think on this some.
OH I KNOW!

Congrats in advance to Carol for her upcoming EOT!!
We're all very glad to see her get to this milestone
Please give her our best.
Wishing you both Well,
Dave
Depends I guess. "Grill" oh no way! "Girl", if mine well
A Twinkie????
Hello Northern Sister.
Yes as of this morning she now has 1 pill remaining. We were talking about it this morning. She mentioned she simply cannot belive it has been 83 days since she tearfully said that prayer.
As to plans we really have none. SVR12 may well be a different story and certainly October 30th will be a celebration. I suppose I could put something on the "Grill".
Oh look. He spelled girl wrong. LOL
JimmyK
Hey Jimmy,
The Mrs. must be soon approaching her last pill??
What do you two have planned to celebrate her EOT!!
Maybe her last pill falls on a Friday or Sat night??
I know you have a wonderful cruise planned for the both of you later.
But maybe for her EOT day (or shortly thereafte)r she would like a wee celebratory mini-cruise through a nice spa for a day, or something like that? A bit of soothing R&R pampering just for her to unwind herself from the last 12 weeks.
Hope she has a grand weekend ... both of you. It will be a happy day!
C.
Hey SF,
Waiting to hear about your ultrasound results (at the end of May?, when you said you would get results back?)
And what date do you get another (your next) C VL?? Were you booked for another one for 12 weeks after EOT?, soooo, that would be at the beginning of Aug then??
Will you be asking for, and getting another fibroscan? - I agree, that would be a nice feedback for you to have another fibroscan, just because!, even though it is early times.
How's your iron load now, still good?
How goes everything else - do you discern any feelings of "feeling a bit better". Fatigue, etc??
You threatened to get that bike out after your last snow storm, have you?
From the UND club, your pal, C.
Yes Canuck,
Thank you kindly! Now it's a waiting game but at least I have this much info! double UND
Hey SF!!!!!!
C.

Yup, me too singsong - posted in another thread! And me too, still smiling.
Hard to keep up and follow Jimmy around, isn't it!
Congrats again, Jimmy and Mrs.
Good news all round, here and there, and everywhere!
C.
Posted in another thread. Still smiling!
JimmyK
Of course you are. No doubts and full steam ahead.
When you 2 get to 'cruising' you can celebrate 61 days until SVR and Carolyn can celebrate SVR + 66 days.
That's going to be an awesome vacation!!!

Greetings,
To my fellow passengers now and to come.
Jamaica mon...
Booked the cruise
right after the news,
that we have been set free,
from the dragon we have shared,
the one time fierce,
Hep C.
Jimmy,
wooda never guessed YOU were superstitious! Must have been the little green fella that was spookin' ya. Heeey, wait a minute, speaking of "Great leapin'lizard's!", I thought EVERYTHANG was bigger is Texas!! You saaa-id! Linux has photographic proof, of a reeeally BIG lizard for you - ask him.
While you are twiddling, waitin', waitin', waiting for your VL, go like Linux - deep breath .... oooooom Alt 25 (OMG!!), oooooom Ast 27 (hysterical glee hee hee), oooooom plates. 313 (creamy bliss), ooooom hgb16.7 (pppht! better than the best steak you can find down there)!
You're on a Harvoni roll this time bro. You and the Mrs. Yer gunna have a done deal! I can't wait either!! Sis.
P.S. Was that the KIA you were driving!!!

Thanks Mike. Being less "wordy" was never a strong suit for me. Knowing the limitations on sig line will help. Jimmy-looking forward to your new VL results. Thanks, Syd! I was born on a Friday the 13th, so have always considered it lucky (she said humbly)...
Hi Jimmy,
Nice to have such a visit from the friendly little fellow ... not all things fall out of TV commercials ... I think this one was there to say hi and bid you well. We too wish you well and good luck with the labs ...
Dave
Here is a little pocket Dragon you can carry with you. Just make sure you give it an antacid before leaving. You really don't want it belching fire in your pocket
(You don't want it horning ya either!)
Awww he was cute. Not like a dragon. Hmmm I was born in the year of the dragon and have dragon tattoos down both arms. I need to ponder this..........
Jimmy, you`re a hoot!
How nice of that little green fella to drop by and wish you good luck, I`m not superstitions at all but I would take that as a good sign!
Good luck from me too, not that you need it... you have Harvoni working its magic!!
Nahhhh. They got my Bike The Kia and my Dodge. The little guy probably just dropped in to say thanks. LOL
I don't believe in superstitions but I do believe in a Higher Power and Harvoni and I believe in having car insurance. I pay the "little green dude" monthly to ride with me. I feel very confident with you having the first two covered but I'm wandering if you forgot to pay your last car insurance installment? Geico has a very strong advertising / recruiting program - maybe your being solicited?
The little green dude on my windshield kind of looked like a Dragon eh? LOL
Friday the 13th has always been my lucky day! It will be yours too. There are so many ill informed folks out there that believe in the superstition, they fail to recognize all the blessings and good fortune they are missing by concentrating on negatives.
Good vibes are sent your way Brother! Slay that dragon and bring home some good numbers! The force is good with this one....
Good Morning,
If I may, I would like to share a rather interesting and kind of fun story. I would like to begin of course by affirming I am a Christian and do not in any way believe in anything surrounding superstitions. I want that perfectly clear before I go into my "fun mode".
<Mode On>
As we all know today is Friday the 13th.
Have a great day Y'all!
JimmyK
and then there is me ... :) ** I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band ... (but I did get my degree)
Good to hear you use yoga, pilates and tai chi Wendy. i used to love yoga years ago Canuck, but if you could have seen the crumpled heap that turned up on Tuesday you would have known why the lovely young instructor looked me up and down and said 'I think we'll just do a bit of floor work today."
I'm so glad you went, and now next week will be a whole pile easier because you've got to the door before.
Anna - so great to hear about your positive results.
Hugs everyone.
Syd
Glad to hear you had a massage Canuck and I hope you go back to yoga. I go to a class tonite call flow, it is 15 mins pilates, 15 mins tai chi and and 30 mins yoga/meditation. LOVE IT! Helps the body and mind and friday after work I need that! Hope you go back and try that class.
Hey Harvonian's (or Ledinites) or whatever it is you call yourselves,
Singsong, I loved hearing about your "electric blood" and your very lovely labs. So exciting - your doin' it!! Keep swinging that blade and hack 'em to pieces girl! Good to hear you and Mrs. Jimmy are winning good.
Good you got started gojuman! Good for you!
So nice SF is done!!! And syd is aaalllllmost there!
I am soooo grateful that SF and Jimmy, and ALL OF YOU, have the likes of HARVONI nowadays! This site is just-a-busting with" new daa" good news, isn't it!
Wendy/syd, I had a massage too! See, I DID listen to you syd! It did seem to stir things up, I also tried to join a yoga class (good grief I am in such a sorry physical state)! At the appointed day and hour I practiced up on my best Linux and syd ooooom, dressed up in funny yoga gear, planned my whole day around it, arrived replete with mat and bottle of water - they must have seen me coming - class had been cancelled (thank god). Next week, maybe. I like syds attitude, she's always had one, dacla style, I follow her lead. I follow Jimmy's lead too (I like it when he goes all serious).
Who knew! the HCV population consisted of only nice people with high IQ's and are mostly extremely talented psychologists!
Your Velparian friend, C.
Anna
I can't quite tell here.
Are you talking about me completing my first bottle of Harvoni?
Or my "response" to Carolyn?
Cool i will give it a try
I don't think the KIA could tow this monster. Other way around, maybe.
You know I am not sure. Grapefruit is not to be used and I would assume that has to do with the acidic qualities I am not sure. I use Lemon with Cranberry Juice and Apple Cider Vinegar but stopped while on Harvoni.
I do have a great mix that is in fact great for you.
3/4 glass of Coconut Water, and 1/4 raw Cranberry juice. Great stuff, great hydration factor, good for cleansing and great in Potassium and good on enzymes.
Hope this helps it is great stuff!
JimmyK
Very Nice numbers Anna! Keep up the great work, you've got this
Syd, glad to hear that you are addressing any stresses that you may have in such a positive way ... nice to hear ... Ommmmm
Jimmy, was Carol towing the BBQ behind the Kia when this happened ... hope the smoker's Ok and were they using Mesquite of Applewood?
Dave
Will fresh lemmon water affect harvoni or should I keep regular H20?
Awesome jimmy good for you man
At least there wasn't a watermelon in the dream
That'll teach me?
HA!
I won't post the X-Rated response she got but let's just say if we still smoked, we'd a been doing so a short time L8TR.
Jimmy, that slap must've been what startled me at 6:57 ( EDT). She just nailed ya huh? That'll teach you to make fun of her and your grand daughter flying around in her KIA!
Syd, that massage and yoga sounds like a great way to relieve some stress. I'm glad it helps you regain some comfort and focus. You're getting so close to the station! 14 and a wake up is the way we described it in the military. Hold on to your sense of humor and the positive attitude we know you have. The future looks bright!
Anna, those are great numbers! I'm looking forward to your viral load today. Hopefully you'll get those results in a few days at most and we'll have time to buy all all the necessary party supplies! Good luck is yours!! Woot!
Greetings,
This morning, at 5:55a I completed my first of 6 bottles of Harvoni.
LOL
One down 5 to go!
JimmyK
