Gidday Dragonfly,
Big ditto on the birthday wishes for your 50th, it is a time to enjoy so have a good time, just make sure you sit down a lot and make others do the work, it's your party !!
On the issue of eating and putting weight on since finishing tx, regardless of what you lossed during tx, what you put on now will have to be planned to some degree. If you think you are unable to do that, seek the advice of your former tx team, or if that's not possible see your doctor about it. As Steff says, awareness is the first step and you are in command, I hope it doesn't interfere with recovery.
Cheers,
Brendan.

Hi Dragonfly, Wishing you a superb 50th Birthday Party, and a healthy and happy year to come! I hope that the move goes as smoothly as possible, and the cats don't cause any more problems(?). When I move my cats to a new home, I smear butter on their paws. By the time they have enjoyed licking it off and cleaning themseves, they feel relaxed in their new home, and don't want to run away. Enjoy your food! You lost a lot of weight on tx, so it doesn't sound like you need to worry about getting fat. Love Annie xxxx

Hi Dragonfly,
Best wishes for your forthcoming big 50 Sounds like you have a lot going on with a move on the cards!
As for the eating, it's not surprising when your food starts to taste good again I know a lot of people who developed cravings for very sweet foods and lots of carbs, a bit like the cravings us women can get during our monthly cycles lol. I can't imagine you looking like a small buffalo, Dragonfly - the eating binges do level out and since you're aware of it, I doubt you'll be doing an impression of the Michelin Man
Love Steff xx

Happy upcoming 50th! I remember my 50th well, it was the year I was diagnosed, in fact I got the news 12 days before my 50th.
I'm sure that will always remain in my memory bank, LOL!
Isn't it amazing when food starts tasting like food again? I struggled terribly all throughout treatment, right off the bat, too.
I was reduced to eating soft boiled eggs, mashed potatoes, hot whole grain cereal and water to drink. My mouth was hyper sensitive (didn't get any sores, so to speak), but my tongue was swollen and super sensitive, as was the oral cavity as a whole.
I coveted Pepsi, but it burned terribly, wanted chocolate, that was irritating, also. Yep, 48 weeks of a really crap diet (I was forcing myself every day to get something down, just so I'd stay alive, lol!!! And did I gain weight, so no one really ever suspected I was having difficulty eating food!
Post tx, after my mouth returned to normal, I went on some weird binges, still hanging in with some. I have to have a dose of dark chocolate EVERY day- I cut down on my diet Pepsi intake, I was really hitting that hard- and sometimes I literally forget to eat.
The drugs do a number to the mind and senses, even 4 years post.

Hi everyone, Sorry to have not been in touch for a while. We are moving and I'm helping my mum move (in with us) as well. I've just heard that our move might fall through because of our cats! So I'm now stressed. Oh and I foolishly decided to invite everyone to a party for my 50th!
The sx are gradually wearing off but I'm still getting very tired and achy. The itching has improved and I can do more in my day. Unfortunately this means I do far too much and exhaust myself as a result. I have also turned into an eating machine! Everything and anything disappears down my gullet. I'm trying to rein in my intake as I'm eating far too much and have put on a lot of weight (for me) - if I continue like this I will be the size of a small buffalo.
I was sorry to read all the posts recently - this journey is hard enough as it is and everyon needs to cope with it in their own way. I hope that everyone is having a peaceful, restfull sx free day.
Hiya Dragonfly,
Wish you all the best for your 50th!! Happy Birthday!!
Hugs
