Thanks guys! Well, it has been a week and I am still nauseated, horribly fatigued, and that yucky taste is not going away. My urine has stayed orange and now I'm starting to get a bit jaundiced. And mind you, I have not yet started treatment. This is all the acute infection going on.
I know this sounds strange, but I'm actually a bit excited about all of this, as all the research I'm reading suggests that patients with 'symptomatic' acute Hep C, and particularly jaundice, have a much higher rate of spontaneous clearance than people who show no symptoms at time of infection.
I seriously feel like warfare is going on in my body. I've only had two viral loads drawn so far, and the first one at week 6 post infection was 13 and a half million. Then the next one 2 weeks later was 7 million. That was even before I started to feel sick, so I'm hoping to get some blood drawn this week and I'm curious as all hell to see if I've dropped even more.
If it looks like I'm clearing the virus on my own, my doc and I may decided to hold off treatment for a few more weeks and watch my trends to see if I'm clearing this on my own. I'll keep ya posted!

Gidday Sunny,
Brings back some very old memories, if I remember right you should have jaundice eyes as well, but then again that doesn't occur with everyone. Mine were so yellow, looked really strange in the mirror.
That nasty taste in the mouth is bile. Throwing up or dry wretching particularly on an empty stomach can cause bile into your throat or mouth. I'm afaraid I don't have any remedies for getting rid of the taste in your mouth. I use to just continually wash my mouth out with cold water, but I remember anything I swallowed just flew back up so I had to be careful. Sorry you are not well, hang in there.
Cheers,
Brendan.

Hiya Sunny,
Not sure if the taste in your mouth could be a symptom or not, but the stress of what has happened, and anticipating tx etc, will be adding to your symptoms.
Live yoghurts/pro-biotic drinks might help to ease your stomach, maybe worth checking with your doc. All the best. Hugs Heather xxx

I have not yet started treatment, but am suffering from symptoms of acute hep c infection. I got infected 9 weeks ago and have been having fevers, fatigue, high abdminal pain, and now my urine has turned orange. My AST and ALT were 10 times normal at last test.
Anyway, on Saturday I got extremely fatigued and rediculously nauseus, like when I was pregnant. It was unrelenting all day and has been on and off since then. I want to eat food to settle my stomach but then get upset after eating. This is all bad, but the worst part of it is I have this bizzare taste in my mouth.
It's not even like a real taste...I can hardly describe it, but it's like my mouth feels icky and it just nauseates me even more. Brushing my teeth, drinking, and chewing gum doesn't alleviate it for long. I did get a strange urge to gargle salt water and that helped a bit, but just briefly. Oh if only I could just gargle salt water all day
Has anyone experienced this? Is it a Hep C thing, or am I just developing psycosomatic symptoms from my anxiety about starting treatment, perhaps???
