My doc recommends tylenol also, rather than the N'said pain relievers. I am lucky that it is summer here and hopefully I will be able to get thru treatment without getting sick. My nurse did warn me about staying far away from sick people, if possible, because we are definately vulnerable while on TX.
As far as what I've used in the past (w HepC), I try to do a lot of natural stuff, like my nettie pot. And stay away from those all inclusive meds because who really needs ALL of that stuff anyway? So if I'm stuffy and the nettie pot doesn't work, I will just take a benedryl or something. I also gargle with salt water for sore throats, or sometimes use a cough drop that is mentholated so also helps with breathing, etc.
Not sure where you are or if they are available, but my best friend when I am sick with a cold or flu are the Puffs tissues with Aloe and Vicks. LOVE them.

Hi pmrad5, not sure I've met ya yet so welcome to the forum.
Originally I was using Ibruprofren for general aches and pains but my pharmacy nurse told me that if tylenol will work it is not as hard on the liver. She suggested also, that if I do need the ibrupro to at least try to switch it out every other time. Like take Ibrupro one time and Tylenol the next, four hours later. As it turned out the Tylenol usually does the trick it for me. I also try to just take one pill instead of two unless I really need it. If you haven't picked up on it already by reading other posts on the forum, it helps to drink lots and lots of water to flush these and the hepc drugs out of your system. The water also helped wet the throat and lessened the coughing I had during the first weeks.
My cough kind of changed to a sore throat at one point and I eventually had to go to the doc and get put on antibiotics for a throat infection. So kind of watch for that.
Keep in mind too other folks opinion may differ fro mine, I'm not a doc and just trusting what I have been told, but it worked for me.
Are you on treatment yet?
Take care, Randy

Hi folks,
What are some safe pain releivers and cough suppressants?
