My doctor did an ultrasound and a ct scan. The ct scan showed an enlarged liver, and showed that spleen was not enlarged.

Contact your county health department. The can get you into trials. Does ur state offer a Medicaid type insurance? I agree, biopsy is what you need for a good diagnosis.

while a ct scan can help show inflamation, and possibly even cancer and such, it's still not 100% acurate. In june I had one that showed fatty liver, and also no gall stones. In July I had my gallbladder taken out ( my doc had a gut feeling) and it did have gallstones the ct scan didn't show. He also did my 3rd liver biopsy during the surgery, and it turned out I did not have fatty liver like the scan said.
Usually they do an ultrasound instead of a ct scan..is that what you meant?

I would do it Dodger, a CT can tell allot. The biopsy, while being an invasive proceedure, is the best way to determine damage. A CT may be the next best. Good luck, Iris

I was wondering if a ct scan would be a good idea. I go to a free clinic here in my hometown. They said that they could arrrnage for a no cost ct scan of my liver, if I wanted to have it performed. I have had hep c for many years and no tests other than blood work done. I don't have insurance so I can't afford much. This clinic could provide a ct scan, but not a biopsy. I'm just not sure if it would be of any benefit to me. Thanks for the information.-Dodger
