The Incivek is a 'radical middle step' between the old way of treatment (riba/interferon) and the newer up and coming treatments. The newer treatments will be shorter, with less side effects and more effective.
My nurse told me that the 'super virus' aka the virus that has become immune to Incivek is overcome by 'wild' virus (the original, non super strain) over a period of 2-3 years. After that time, the patient becomes treatable again.

I'm sorry to hear that treatment this time didn't work. I echo everyone else's hope that there will be a treatment that can work for you in the future. Hang in there!

Hey Jim,
Perhaps you are one of the 20% that will move on to prove one of the many new treatments that are being developed, and hopefully they will have way fewer sx.
I am glad that you remain in high sprirts and you seem to be at peace.
Best of the holidays to you and your family.
Warm regards, John

Thanks everybody. No I'm not going anywhere. I owe it to the people who supported me to pass on the encouragement and support to the new people who are just starting tx. It's all good to me. Have a great day!

Jim,
I am so sad to hear about your setback. After all this time too! Well, some things are out of our hands. You did your part and that's all you could do. There are many new drugs in the clinical trials now so I would bet that something out there will be "the one" to clear the virus for you.
Keep your spirits up, and enjoy that wonderful family as much as you can for the holidays!
Love and hugs,
Becca

Oh Jim, sorry to hear that, how disappointing for you.
There`s always hope down the road though with new and more effective tx regimes coming down the pipeline, so keep your spirits up and give yourself some time out to recover.
You`ve been a real trouper through tx and a great help to people here, so please do keep in touch!
All my best wishes to you and yours for the festive season and beyond!
Love, Jill xxx

My Dr called and said my VL was up to 22,000 and the virus was replicating to get around the Incivek. She said to stop all treatment. I guess I'm one of the 20%.
Well, it wasn't meant to be for me this time but I know that I will get another chance down the road. Everyone on here has been so kind and supportive to me, I can't thank you all enough. I could not have gotten this far without you.
To my buddy SS.....we started at the same time and you are da man, keep going, Incivek is almost done!!!!! I'm still gonna call you on Sunday's....drink drink drink......lol
To Steve, Greg, Steve-0, Becca, Cinamon Girl, Deidre ( a wealth of knowledge for us all ), BJ, Barbara, and everyone else that sent a kind word my way, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To everyone on treatment.....This is doable!!!!!!!! Not easy but doable. So just do it. Keep going. Stay the course. One day at a time, one minute at a time if need be.
The one thing I would do differently is I would have taken some anti-depressants to start with. I didn't realize how tx affected my mood until I stopped. I can see a big difference..,,Give yourself every oppportunity to succeed.
I'm in good spirits knowing that so many of you will succeed. God Bless you all and have a great holiday.
