Hi Tanya. It does happen for various reasons but don't worry as I think it's rare. My doc added two weeks of pegintron to my 24 week go of it but it's a long story. The short of it was I ended up just going along with him on it to make sure I rid myself of this demon within. I'm geno2 also and so far I'm UND. You will beat this thing and you will do it in 24 weeks. I know it's hard to not worry with all the information and misinformation out there about our disease and it's treatment. I went through a lot of that on tx and for some reason the stress of it all makes you feel worse when you're down. One thing I did that seemed to help was to try and keep myself focused on just getting through the day I was in. Easier said than done sometimes on tx, but it did help.
Take care, Randy

Tanya here is a link to a long article on Genotype 2 treatment
It is an easier genotype to treat. You are lucky. It has a high cure rate. Plus about those bags on your eyes. I have had swollen eyelips for months and they have not harmed me in any way. It is probably soem allergic reaction brought on by the interferon kicking the immune system into high gear.but harmless. Don't worry about it too much. Ask your doctor. Treatment has all kinds of crazy side effects affecting the entire body. Sometimes it makes me very nervous but it has been OK for me. Have survived them all. Take care.

It is a case by case thing, and different doctors do have slightly different protocols. For the best answer, talk to your doctor about possible treatment outcomes, dates etc. I hope that you'll only have to do 24 weeks of treatment. Best of luck!
