This Saturday morning I woke up feeling a little sick from a cold. The cold and the other sx combined to make me feel pretty crummy. So I stayed in bed pretty much all day, watching TV. I did not drink any water. Saturday night I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed even if I wanted to. By Sunday morning I was toying with the idea of giving up treatment altogether. The flu symptoms were record setting, absolutely no apetite for food, making the Incivek doses a real challenge, and I could not get warm, even in bed under the electric blanket. This went on all day, and Sunday night was an eternity. The backside discomfort was so bad that each trip to the bathroom literally brought tears to my eyes. Monday morning was labs, and I always have to drink lots of water for labs (to keep my fear of getting stuck from making me nauseous), so I pounded down a couple bottles of water over an hour's time. By 9AM, time to leave for the lab, I didn't feel all that bad. By the time the labs were done (and two more large glasses of water), I felt well enough to try to get to work.
I finished the work day at the office and arrived home at the regular time.
Moral of the story, if you are in treatment for Hep C, and you feel real crummy, drink more water. If your car gets a flat tire, drink more water. If your dog chases you and barks at you, drink more water. Never jump in the bed all weekend without a constant supply of drinking water. The skin itch, the flu symptoms, the butt issues, the chills... all seem to have a lot to do with hydration. I will never make this mistake again. I can't really explain what a horrible weekend it was, and it was all apparently caused by me not taking care of business.
