I cannot speak for all patients and know some go the boceprevir route too depending on their history and conditions...as we all know one drug may be more appropriate for one than the other.

LaniaSurferGirl, I wonder, do you know if your dr perscribes the double dosage for all his/her hep c 1A patients?

I found some articles on the internet to support it but know my doc has access to the data from clinical trials as he works with the docs that administer them. Here are some links...I tried to find the most current and up to date info:
http://hcvnews.blogspot.com/
scroll down to about the middle of this one for study c208:http://www.drugs.com/clinical_trials/new-clinical-data-support-broad-profile-telaprevir-patients-genotype-1-hepatitis-c-virus-hcv-6049.html
My doc has me on the 3 pills every 12 hours and I was UND at 4 and 8....still rough treatment but I cannot imagine the 3x per day. I sleep 12-13 hours per night on this stuff and would be a zombie waking up to eat and take drugs!
oh yeah... 3 pills every 12 hours! I like the sound of that!
Is there any more information on this protocal? Anyone else with this schedule? This would make life so much easier.
Peace all!

Lucky rascal. Three pills twice a day sure beats two pills three times a day. Just coming up with something to eat with them, and being on time at 6AM, 2PM and 10PM has been a real chore. Many was the morning I would look at the clock and wonder how in the world am I going to get out of bed, make a fatty breakfast, eat it and take my pills when it felt so good to stay in bed. But somehow it worked out. I am almost done with week 11 and looking forward to putting this poison down. They just had to adjust my riba doseage because of low hematacrit readings in the latest labs, but my focus is on getting through the Incivek and then never taking it again. Powerful juju, but very obnoxious.

Hi. I was worried because around week 6 I got very nauseated and one hour after taking 6am Incevik threw up. Then for 2pm dose could not eat anything but a bit of fat. Still UDT at 12 weeks. I have read on another forum serverl posts where several people missed one dose of Incevik and still were undetectable at 4 and 12 weeks. They are studying dosing it three pills every 12 hours also. You will be OK. One less thing to worry about. Sounds like you got a great plan to prevent it in the future.

Thats good advice this is new meds and I'm sure their still learning a lot about it. I ate my meal in prep for med then got distracted. Now besides alarm I made spead sheet of my meds day and time and check them off when i take them just something to help me remember. I know the drug co. know the best way to use their meds and to deveate from that thinking it will be all right would not be wise. Very good point.

Excellent, Robert. No need to stress about it now and I really think you are A-OK with one missed dose at this stage.
I was going to post the info about 80% compliance, which is a general rule regarding prescriptions, but I personally would not rely on that for this drug because there are many uncertainties still. Point is 100% compliance is best so anybody thinking 80% is okay as a target point please be careful.

You will be fine , the svr rates are based on 80% compliance.

The incivek folks anticipated a possible missed dosed and wrote instructions in the rx inserts on how to handle it. When to dose next depends on whether you discovered it in 4 hours or less. If you don't have this info post back and I'll get it for you.
I think one missed dose is not a serious problem under your circumstances--UNDs all the way.

Did i say 80% was ok? No , also i wasnt speaking about general drugs i was speaking of triple thereapy, If you look at studies of triple therapy the facts state 80% compliance is what i was based on i didnt pull that out of the air lol . And no i dont agree with settling for 80% i was simply stating the facts. Im on week 27 and have done allot of research on all of this thanks though. On a bright note ive been 110% compliant even through a surgery and being hospitalized during tx i told dr id leave if i couldnt take meds>
