Yesterday, my doctor prescribed betamethasone diproprinate. I've already gone through the first tube. It really takes the edge off and makes your skin more blotchy and less like chopmeat. I'm also starting claratin.
I think 1% hydrocortisone is pretty ineffective for this. I've purchased about 15 over the counter remedies, and what worked best was Gold Bond lotion - not powder. Green bottle, red cap.

I have been prescribed Atarax (hydroxyzine 25 ml) for the itch and rash. It makes me very drowsy so I started by cutting the pills in half and it helped me build up a tolerance so I can take the full dose. I used hydrocortozone cream1%, Aveeno bath and lotion, and found them to be temporary relief at first but became ineffective as the rash/itch became worse. Drink LOTS of water, cut your fingernails, and wear loose cotton. So far the itch and rash have been the most irritating sx I have had and my skin is still peeling and is so very dry. I hope you find a solution Katie. If I ever have to torture someone, I will find a way to make them itchy.

1% hydrocortizone cream. Also when I was on Tx I used benedryl cream, but it costs more. It was a lot cheaper at costco, I went through about a half tube of the hydrocortizone cream per day.
The trick is to dab the itchies as they pop up and DON"T SCRATCH. The cream takes a few minutes to work but it DOES work. I would slather myself a half hour or so before bed and have my wife coat my back with it every morning.
Oral Benedryl 50 mg also worked pretty well.
The trick is to stay on top of it. I would dab them as they popped up and after a while they would fade for a couple days, then start popping up again. Sort of an endless cycle, but doable. Just stay on top of it. I noticed that certain shirts, etc, would make me itch more.
Hope that helps

I have itchiy problem. It keeps from falling asleep.
I couldn't fall asleep, it keeps me awake for whole night for several times already. I put itchy-relief lotion on, but it didn't help either.
Do anyone has any solutions?
Thank you very much for any advice or sharing your experience.
