ok, excersice is a big deal to me as well, I've read a lot of stuff about it and spoke to Dr. A lot of stuff on net tells u a lot of pseudoscience to rationalize laziness and not to work out. My Dr. said that workout is preferred with NO limitations as much as tolerated. I have to admit that its little harder for me to lift weights now than before tx, but not by much. But I prefer excersices with light weight and many reps and treadmill. That helps to sweat toxins out of the body a little too and improves overall self-feeling. Body in motion tends to stay in motion. Good luck hun

I am normally extremely active and had a really hard time exercising in the first 12 weeks of treatment. What did work for me was to break it down....10 minutes of light sit ups, dips, stretching, other things and then do that again a few times per day. That way I wasn't getting as tired. :)

It makes me feel good to hear so many accounts of good and bad days for exercise. I had a bunch of both, and the trick became recognizing a good day and jumping on it, but not too hard. I had a couple of times where I overdid it and was sore and extra tired for a couple days after. But the moral of the story seems to be (as my Mom would say) "Use your head for something other than a hat rack". If you do that it's hard to do wrong.

Take care of yourself, take it easy. This is the one time you don't "have to" exercise. Focus on TX.
I went into Tx in great shape. Like Shep, that faded away as the hemoglobin fell. And when I did force myself to workout, instead of helping, I felt bad for two days. I think my body needed those energy reserves elsewhere. You can't work out properly if your muscles don't have enough oxygen. I gained 14 lbs., but figured "So what, I'll deal with that LATER"
Well, now it's later (2 weeks post Tx). I've started back into workouts, and loving it more than ever. I'm taking it easy, but am getting stonger by the hour.
So, take it easy. Do a little if you feel ok. Do nothing if you feel like it. Like News has said before, listen to your body.
You've got plenty of time AFTER Tx to worry about all the other cr*p.
See you on the other side ;)) !!!

I am in week 4 of tx & start victrellis on Sun. Already I feel flat and struggle to get my head around going for my daily walk, truth is I hav'nt been nor have I managed my weekly gym sess. I do however, put what energy I have into maintaining 'normality' by keeping up housework and being the MUM slave that 10 & 12 year olds expect. Gee after reading this thread I'm a tad concerned about the next phase.
Also... go in for my 4week tests tommoz, interesting.

Hey Malcolm I thought I was gonna breeze through when I started--was keeping up pilates and walking several times a week. Then started the Vic--and slowly the bottom dropped out. Just too tired--no energy. It was maddening for a little while but then I just realized --this is all temporary and when I am able will get back in the swing of things. I did manage enough energy to go for a nice hour long walk today! It was a gorgeous spring day and it was glorious! Hang in there--we will all be Greek gods and goddesses soon!

I'm not on triple RX but still spent many weekends in my big chair, kitchen and bathroom trips only. My neighbor finally mowed my lawn when there were flowers blooming in it. I thanked him and told him I had the flu :-/. It was said before spring brings "up keep " . As I have been feeling better I have been gardening but I too suffer if I overdo.
I say if ya gotta couch it don't feel bad, no doubt you will feel better and have energy to get a little walk in sometime soon. Take care

During the first twelve weeks (I am an Incivek veteran) I didn't really do much. I felt real bad most of the time. But in the weeks since I am really trying to get back in the routine. And as Phil says, Spring means lots of chores, all of which make a workout.

Hi Malcolm :)
'Make hay while the sun shines' so to speak! I exercise when I feel energetic and up to it, and rest when I need it. I was recommended by the doc to get at least 30 min mild exercise per day and a bit of sun (if possible) for the vitamin D factor. I pretty much fulfill this target, and go about my normal routine.
On Peg-Int day (Monday) I allow myself the luxury of rest and a good book! Be kind to yourself when inactive, I find it helps heaps...
I guess it's good to do what feels 'appropriate' coz it's different for everyone on treatment, I range from bed-bug to cardio chick on a daily basis!
I realise it's more intense on triple tx, apologies coz I don't have experience with the Victrelis.
I get cold up here in Cairns too =P Although the weather isn't exactly sunny atm.
Keep up the good work any way you can!
Hugs

Hi all,
I was pretty good until I started Vict. After 4 days I can barely get from bed to the TV. My Hb had dropped to 106 from 158, and presumably will drop further. Next labs in 10 days. Last week I played golf 3 times ( in an electric buggy) and I desperately want to do some exercise. I wonder how much is in the mind? I get a headache trying to put 18 capsules in the right daily container. Any suggestions about how to cope? I really want to get to 8 weeks without having to drop any doses. Feeling cold, even in sunny Brisbane!

Malcolm, I had a good exercise regime going into tx, and kept it up for a while, but it completely died in probably the first 8 weeks. I have had more energy lately, but can't bring myself to exercise (I am a hard starter). But I have started getting some exercise in other ways. I have neglected the cars, house, yard, etc. since tx started, and it shows, so when I have the time and energy, I try to tackle some of these. I have been able to mow the lawn, did it yesterday, but still need to be careful. If I spend 3 hours out there non-stop, I will suffer.
I agree that some of this is in the mind. My mental attitude really improves when I just do something rather than resign myself to the couch. But I just can't do what I used to the way I used to. A game of golf whether walking or riding is great.
Do what you can when you can, but listen to your body. Rest is very important, too.
Chills, yes. I usually have a sweatshirt, coat, or blanket. My wife likes the ceiling fans on. I hate them, didn't use to. Dries my eyes out, too.
Kind of a sidenote: Spent some time with my younger son this weekend working on our old jeep which has been sidelined since tx. That was great, but at some point, he said I had looked good when I just had Hep C, but look like crap since I started tx. Good reminder. This deal is real!
