they never told me to pull back on the plunger... I just pucker up a fatty spot and stick it in and inject and dispose...I have had some bruising but usually the day or two after; only once did i hit a vien and it bruised immediately but otherwise have had no major issues since sticking to the belly region.

I've heard that because the needle is so short and it's injected into a fatty/muscular area, the chance of hitting a vein are minimal.

No, you pull back on the plunger. You should always pull back on the plunger once the needle is bottomed out. If you pick-up blood you're in a vein if you don't get blood then then it's safe to inject. You don't want to inject in a vein, you want to go under the skin but above the muscle.

Me too--had the plunger come out but was able to get right back in--I was just not paying attention. I am much more attentive NOW!

I had that happen once and managed to get it back in.
My back up was a spare supply of Syringes & Needles so I could withdraw
the Med from the broken Syringe into another one. The bore of the replacement needles was a size bigger, but any port in a storm?

I had a mishap of accidentally freezing one while out of town. Luckily I had a brother back home who could send me a replacement (Same day Shipping) and I was only a day late for my injection. Pegasys sent me one replacement too! :D

Wow, I can't beleive it. I have completed 9 weeks and 9 shots!
I also was UNDETECTABLE at week 7. Yay me!
I also had a Pegasys malfunction a few weeks back I thought I'd share with you:
I had the needle in, pulled back on the red plunger to make sure I wasn't in a vein and the plunger CAME OFF in my hand. I couldn't inject without the plunger, so I disposed of the injection.
Luckily, I just received my next shipment of Pegasys, so I had 4 pre-fills to choose from as a backup.
If this happens to you, call the Pegasys nurse line and report it. Then call your pharmacy and request a replacement. My pharmacy took some info, called Genetech and made the arrangements for the replacement. Genetech did call me in the process too, but all in all it wasn't too time consuming.
I should be getting the replacement syringe later this week with my next Pegasys refill.

Just thought you all should know this info...
