Genentech, the maket of Pegasys, has informed the pharmacy that there may be temporary supply constraints with the availability of Pegasys Pre-Filled Syinges. This product is NOT recalled. Genentech has informed pharmacies that supply constraints will likely resolve within the next six months and they expect resolution by September 2012. This supply constraint is primarily due to increased demand for the pre-filled syringe and a production constraint of the glass syringe barrels. This date is subject to change.
What you should know:
. CuraScript recommends you talk to your doctor proactively about the availabiliry and
appropriateness of other forms of Pegasys. Genentech has indicated that the Pegasys PtoClick
auto-injector and the Pegasys Single use vials are not involved in the supply constraints.
. Genentech indicates that in a crossover user-handling stud/, patients who switched from one
device to another had similar safety and tolerabiliry results.
. The Pegasys ProClick Auto-injector is available in the following sttengths:
o 180mcg per 0.5m1
o 135mcg per 0.5m1
. If you currendy use less than 135mcg per injection you should talk to your doctor about the
Pegasys single use vial, you wili not be able to use the ProClick auto-injector device.
. If your doctor decides to switch you to either the Pegasys ProClick auto-injector or the single use
vial it will require you to be approptiately ttained on the new device.
