I cut my Riba from 1000 to 600 due to animia. Doctors call. I have rebounded a bit, enough to not be taken off treatment. I'm now closing in on 12 weeks and all test are positive leaning toward staying UND. In most studies I've read reducing Riba dose doesn't effect the final outcome. That's on triple therapy.
Good luck in your quest to kill the sx. I've just dealt with them as annoying as they are.

Hi, Brian. The 200mg tablets will certainly make a reduction easier, since they offer more combinations. But have you tried all the old reliable throat remedies, like salt water (very salty) gargle, or Listerine? You want to be sure a dosage adjustment is necessary, like for anemia. I'd hate to see you cut your dose. Although at eight weeks you could probably get by just fine. Then you could go back up later if the throat improved. And most importantly, attaboy on the UND. If you are doing Victrelis that is huge. But it is big for any treatment.

Congrats on the UND, Brian! That's great news! Hang in there. It gets easier.

Well I got the results of my 8 week test the other day, and liver functions were normal. and HCV RNA not detected. Good news. I wish I could stop treatment now, as my sx's are bothering me. I have had a sore throat now for weeks, all I can eat is yogurt. I was at my regular MD for BP refill and he said it looked like a yeast infection. He is aware of my current treatment. He prescribed some liquid meds with 3 refills, I'm on my 2nd refill with not much relief.
The pharmacy started sending me instead of 600mg ribapak twice a day, to 3 200mg caps twice a day. They said it saved my insurance a lot of money. At any rate with my loss of energy and chronic throat pain and ulcers in my mouth, I may ask the dr if I can cut back on the riba.
