Warm (not hot) baths, with Aveeno oatmeal powder. Just the spraying water of a shower can kick off the itch. Use the Benadryl proactively, drink WAY TOO MUCH WATER for any normal human being, and keep the skin coated with a good lotion at all times. Blot dry, don't rub. And try to resist that first wave of intense itching and not scratch it. Often it will not last more than a few minutes. But if you scratch it, the die is cast. There are a number of good anti-itch medicines available, like Gold Bond ointment and hydrocortisone cream. I used them all at one time or another. For a couple of weeks it got real bad and my nurse called in a prescription for some serious itch stuff. Then as mysteriously as it came, it went back to tolerable. I tell you, this treatment is a web of confusion. Once you think you got it down pat, it'll change up.

After my workout, I took a warm shower, wasn't scrubing or anything, as soon as I toweled off, the itch began, unbearable! To the point where I got out an iron brush and just scratched myself till I got bruises...it came from inside though. Put a ton of lotion and oil but did not help. Benadryl calmed the itch but now in afraid of showers:) anyone uses specific medicated body washes or something? Please help, it drove me up the wall!!!
