Pneumonia is an inflammatory lung disease characterized by swelling of the air sacs of lungs, may be one or both, due to infection caused by bacterial, viral, fungal or any breathing foreign particle. According to American Lung Association, viruses are the most common cause of pneumonia in the United States and accounts for more than one-third of the total cases. Air sacs are more commonly affected in pneumonia, they become inflamed and fill up with fluid which results in breathing difficulties associated with the risk that this infection might travels to whole body.
Types of pneumonia The types of pneumonia depend upon its causative agents. The four known causative agents of pneumonia are bacteria, virus, fungus and foreign breathing particles. Similarly, the signs and symptoms of pneumonia also vary with their causative agents.

Thank you all!
I am feeling better today. The antibiotics are working even though I was on the wrong dose... (pharmacy said twice a day, luckly the nurse corrected that today - 3xday)
Just got my labs and things are looking up there as well.
Hgb 10.1
WBC 3.3 (almost normal)
and Neutrofila 1.6
They're still keeping my doses 6oo Riba and 90 Interferon for another week... and maybe increase after next weeks labs. I sure hope so!!! I still worry about these reduced doses even though they tell me not to worry.
Thinking of all my buddies here and wishing you all a smooth ride on this crazy journey we are on!
Mark

Oh gosh, we just never know what's coming next, do we? I'm so sorry! More pills to take now but set your alarms so you don't miss any dose of your antibiotics. Praying for you, for a speedy recovery. I sometimes feel like a science experiment......having to be monitored constantly....let's see what's new This week! Well, I have ear infections again but getting used to that, lol. Hang in there!

What a horrilbe thing to happen Mark, just shows how important it is to let your medical team know how you`re feeling, and thank goodness you did. With the way the sx often change from week to week it`s sometimes hard to tell what`s what, and it`s easy to put every new symptom down to having a bad patch, when there could be something more going on.
Take good care and feel better soon.

Oh what a bummer!
I always wonder why they listen for pneumonia at every visit, but it's clear the Ribaviron keeps the lung fluid plentiful once the Incivek is done. I'm always coughing as if I smoke Lucky Strikes, and I've been an ex-smoker for 5 years!
Keep us posted on your recovery, that's a tough break.

I can imagine it would be hard to notice when taking a deep breath feels heavy on these drugs, added fluid/pneumonia would hardly be oticable. Feel better. Take good care

Just got a call from the nurse, You have pneumonia and need to start antibiotics immediately. I'm a little bit concerned as my WBC is very low...Leukocyter 1.9 and Neutrofila .4 (new labs tomorrow)
Am I over reacting, or is it ok for me to be a little freaked?
I thought I was just experiencing allergies because of the meds. Luckily I told the nurse about it at last weeks labs and she took a culture.
Shoot! and I thought it was going to be smooth sailing after ending the Incivek! Well, now I know why I've been feeling so lousy this week.
