Always check with your doc but sounds like you are experiencing side effects along with the rest of us.
Make sure you are getting your recommended daily allowance of fat...easy if you are on incivik :) If you consume 2,000 calories per day you need at least 53 grams per day. This is important for absorption of vitamins A,D,E, and K...the fat soluble vitamins. Vitamin K plays a role in blood health and clotting.
You can ask your doc about a vitamin K supplement and I have been using Cetaphil Restor-a-derm body wash and lotion. It seems to toughen up my skin because treatment has destroyed it so I am less prone to cuts or damage. :)

Hi Megan, thank you ill definitely try the wash. I'm not getting enough fat or calories or barely any normal food due to indigestion problems. I was actually gonna order a few vitamins to increase myWBC count and vitamin K is on my list as well. Thank you for you response!

I just got a reply from my CRNP to say there is not much she can do about my low platelets, bruising and cuts that won't stop bleeding. She assures me that when the treatment is over all these things will correct themselves. But my arms look like I've been in a fight. It's embarrassing. And still we soldier on. Love to all my fellow slayers. Starting week 28 and looking forward to the end of July. Alan

I've always attributed the bruising during tx to the low platelets. My forearms look a lot like a couple of friends going thru chemo for cancer.

Wow, Terry, I hope everything with turn out without the need for transfusion. Someone has recommended Gold Bond to me for it itchiness and mild rash I develop after taking a shower and it works pretty well. Also, try Zertec or Hydroxyzine for the rash, they are both in pills. I hope it helps...

Hi Shep, I did have a total thyroidectomy a few years ago but no one mentioned to me about bruising issues. I always had sensitive skin and treatment especially made it worse.

Yep--I looked like I have either been beaten or am really clumsy! Actually I am pretty clumsy--little bruises all over the place. My daughter loves to point them out to me. I am pretty sure it is due to low platelets--mine are low, along with low WBC & RBC. I also have thyroid issues which also increases bruising.

I've noticed I'm covered in bruises on my arms and legs. Dont recall hitting anything hard. I've read that interferon and incivek may reduce platelets. Has anyone experienced anything like that and if yes what was done for it? This is my week 5 and I took a blood test Thursday, I hope for good results. Thank you for your responses!
