That's true, especially in our case. It's a long treatment and expensive one too.

Hmmm, interesting question. I'm not sure how it is in other countries but I'm told we are very highly regulated in the U.S. so that generics have to be the same formulation as the original. We also only get a generic here when the original manufacturer's patent expires. I've noticed that the US people here are split between two brands of Ribavarin and two brands of Interferon. I'm not even sure which is the original and which is the newer competitor. I have noticed that some multiple treaters have expressed preference for one interferon over another....

Mine is copegas, I don't even know if we have generic for that. You should request brand name, I'm pretty sure they will change that just the co-pay might be higher. I'm usually ok with generics, like antibiotics, but this is serious medication and treatment we are taking about.

hi guys im so mad as i can get!! i found out that my RIBA is not copegus as i tough(original med) but a cheaper generic,some docs may say that its almost the same but almost its not enough when you are dealing with this,i made a few phone calls,and they said that tomorow they would call me i hope they change the meds to the original brand name COPEGUS and not the cheap version (ribavirine from TEVA PHARMA),my insurance covers all my meds so i guess they will change that...i will let you guys know.....DAHM!!!
