Renee - I love your new hair style and color; you are rocking it!
Lindsay - you are so wonderfully supportive; I'm so glad you two have each other.
Alan - that is pretty funny; electric blue, lol! You all are going to get me to do some crazy color soon, hehehe!
I actually feel better, now that I'm used to this short cut. (Well, shortest it's ever been for me!) My hair still falls out in the shower, but the strands are about 5 inches shorter, so looks like less.

Renee,
I think your new hair looks great, in fact you look really good in general in your "after" picture. We may not have as much hair as we did, but we have some, which is better than none!

Renee,
Afer looking at your pics this weekend, and under constant pressure from my daughter and grandson, I almost caved and went with some sort of electric blue product with a name like Cosmic Chaos or some such. I have so little hair left I can actually use a regular brush, and it will get through to the scalp. Up until this I had to use one of those stiff plastic bristle kind with the little ball on the end of each one. My last box of Pegasys and last carton of Ribapack comes tomorrow. I won't begin using it until June 29, then finishing up treatment on July 28. So I decided to hold out. If the hair continues to be a problem, I might do some coloring. But if it begins to come back, I think I'll continue with this super sexy grey.

I started to lose hair around 4th month of treatment. I clogged the drains, filled expensive vacuum bags, and had to stop wearing black clothes because the hair was coming out so fast. My dog was shedding at the time too! I have had my hair cut 3 times now and finally have something I like. It is very short and not something I would do again but it looks healthy and neat. I have very fine thin hair and could'nt afford to lose anymore. It was at the same time that my skin became dry, rashed and started to shed, my fingernails got brittle etc. The hair has stopped falling out now but I cant tell if its getting any thicker because it is so short. At least it grows back!

Aghra, you know how much I love you? Just saying :)
Yes, my hair has thinned out significantly; and some areas of my head are starting to get small patches. When I started tx; I have ALWAYS had thick hair lol I was born with a full head of it plus peachfuzz... the cut and flair so to speak lol has helped my mood greatly. It still falls out; even more than before but at least I don't wake up in the morning feeling like a shedding wookie as much lol. My hair line is higher now too. I am not too vien about most things in regards to my body and appearance but my hair is one of them lol. And I too was assured it would grow back. If it does get any worse; and I mean really bad; then I am just gonna go bald lol

My fiancee Renee who is on treatment has been losing her hair. At first, I hardly noticed it, but the last time she came out for a visit, it was noticeable. She cried one night about it, and I suggested that she might feel better if she got a haircut. She went all out and dyed it too since she knew it was probably going to all fall out at some point. She has 5 months of treatment left. I think the cut and dye looks great, and while I know it is a temporary solution, I think it has made her feel better too. I love your hair cut Judy!

I just want to know why the gray ones are staying in and only the brown ones are coming out?
A friend told me that Dr. Oz had mentioned some product you brush at your roots to make your hair look thicker. Kind of like eyebrow pencil but its a shadow. I'll look into it.
The dry EVERYTHING. must.....drink....more.....water!
The sx I like tripping on are my fingertips. They stay indented for an extra second when I push on them. They remind me of a youngster's.

Have determine that the treatment has taken the wave / curl out of my hair. Last night I did shot 36 of 48 - 12 more weeks to go that include Victrelis also (all 3 drugs to the end). I had a period of time right around the half way point (24 weeks) where I lost a lot of hair and was really worried. I bought a hairpiece and wear it from time to time - but lately the hair growth seems to have really slowed. Still looks pretty bad but not really falling out like before. Hope it stays this way for the next 12 weeks.

Mine is falling out too...I noticed it around week 18. I started using nioxin but my scalp hurts too and think that is too dry for me. I massage coconut oil into my scalp 1x per week and have only been washing it every 5-7 days. That sounds gross but it doesn't have much of its natural oils to be dirty and I am trying to hang on to what I have. I also massage my scalp before I go to bed to help increase oil production and keep the tenderness away.
Oh yeah, I am using baby shampoo and conditioner now because I wanted something gentle and moisturizing.
Keep us posted on how it goes,
Meghan

I've been dening the hair loss, but my hair is much thinner and soft? At first it was dry and had more oomph but now it feels like cotton. Just glad I didn't have to put out $ for a wig

I have Nioxin too but I want to see if wen does any good before I go to Nioxin. I dont have a thyroid either so my hair is even worse then yours.

You're not the only one... I found my pic from the previous treatment and I couldn't believe how thin and ugly my hair was. Now it's my week 7 and I feel that I started to loose my hair. Besides they became very thin, lighter in color and feel very dry when I put one hair in between my fingers. It became wavy which is actually not so bad for thin hair but very weird indeed. WEN shampoo made my hair softer and more mosturized but it still looks like mop...

All of these horrific SX aside, how is everyone's hair? Just wondering. I've talked with a few of you who've had to cut much off. Well, I just got back from the salon; had it cut shorter than ever in my life. I'm sick of having mini heart attacks when I clean the hair catcher daily in the shower. And then daily cleaning my bathroom floor because more hair falls out there. After I pull a handful out of my brush after brushing! It must be growing in quickly (but VERY fine, thin, barely there) 'cause I keep expecting to be bald any day!
Attached are 3 pics; my little daughter just took them at the salon.
For about a month my hair was coming out in big clumps--it stopped a couple of weeks ago. It is thinner--I am fortunate in that I had fairly thick hair to start with so most folks haven't noticed. My darling hairdresser gave me a great layer cut about 5 weeks ago that helped shape it up. The texture of my hair is also quite different--it is pretty dry and feels wiry.
Judy the new hair cut is really pretty!
How you like my new look?!
