Will you be on pegasys or pegintron? Pegintron is harder to tolerate, I found but it's definitely doable. With pegasys now I don't even take Tylenol after the injection. No pains just some weakness the day after. You'll never truly know until you are on treatment, I was also afraid but turned out to be not as bad as I thought. But your close people should know about your treatment and they should be able to help you out in some days that are worse then others. Good luck!

Hi baddog, well it does vary from person to person, but generally speaking the first shot/injection tends to be the worst one for most people. It`s best to expect to have some flu-like symptoms, chills, fever, generalised aches and pains, headache maybe. This is likely to begin within a few hours of doing your shot and may last for up to a couple of days, although it`s different for everyone. It`s ok to take some pain killers to deal with these symptoms, ask your doctor which one he recommends. And drink lots and lots of water, it really helps. Not everyone reacts like this to the first shot, but it`s best to be prepared.
When you say someone to help you, do you mean with the practicalities of daily living? I didn`t do the triple tx but a lot of our members who are on one of the triple tx are living alone, and even continuing to work. There again, it depends how you react to tx, and that is very difficult to predict. I expect other people will be along to tell you how they are managing.
As for anti-depressants, yes, you certainly would be able to take them, and a lot of people find them very helpful to cope with the sx (side effects) of tx. It would probably be a good idea to talk to your medical team about this before you start tx.
Best of luck to you, and keep asking questions, it`s the best way to prepare yourself for tx!

Is the first injection really bad, do you need someone to help you with triple treatment? Can you take anti-depressant?
