Hey Richard--I agree anxiety tends to be a part of tx but it does subside but if you do already have issues--go ahead and get on an AD. That is the one thing I would have done differently--is get on an AD. I thought I was tough and could maintain a good mood throughout but here towards the end--I could really use the support. And my friends and family tend to agree! Good Luck to you and glad you have joined the fight!! Shep

Bath time, no need to suffer w anxiety And RIBA can really intensify it. The right AD helps. Lexapro is working great for me 10 mg a day! Lexapro calms you. Best to you, JoAnne

Hello Richard, anxiety over not having control is a condition I have had as well, at times. But, once I got past my first "Friday night dart club" I knew that I was going to win this battle, and that I was going to slay this g@d d#mn dragon!
We're all in this together, and we're in-it-to-win-it!!!

Thanks 12 Step Guy / Margo....anxiety and I have always been close...certainly fear of the unknown and not being in control and the issues...but I am now on this treatment so I need to catch up with reality and start believing that its out of my hands...defintely dont want to take anti d`s...taking enough drugs to open my own chemist`s.
Best of luck to you I suspect we`ll be communicating as and when, on this board.

Hi, I developed anxiety in the beginning on the treatment as well, first few weeks I would say. I took antidepressants, they made it worse. Symptoms went away completely in 2 weeks or so.

Hi Mallani - Thanks for getting back to me....very best of luck with your treatment. Inspirational really at 69 years old...well done. Just about done my first week and the side affects have been ok, apart from the burning butt and the overwhelming anxiety which is me I think rather than the drugs...
Good looking fish....
Bestest wishes

Bathtime, I'm on day 5 of starting Incivek, Peg and Riba. I share your anxiety, yet in someways anxiety is about fear of the unknown. And in our case, there is little to fear. We just need to deal with the daily grind.
Since I've been down the Peg/Riba road twice in the past, my big fear is the possibility of relapse - not the sides. With support from your family, friends, fellow travellers such as those here, you can make it. Day at a time, dose at a time.
Whatever your feeling, thinking or fearing - it will work out. Letting ourselves act a little crazy or outlandish is permissible.

Hi and Welcome Richard, I understand the anxiety you must be feeling. Treatment is a scary thing to commit to. Glad to see you've transferred up from Bath to St. Mary's. You need to have a proper hepatologist looking after you.
I am in Australia, and have had previous treatment with Interferon and Ribavirin (relapser). As I have progressed to cirrhosis, I need to eradicate the virus to have a reasonable lifespan and quality of life. Over here we are behind the USA in availability of new drugs. I was offered the chance to do triple therapy with the antiprotease Victrelis. I am now at week 15, and my viral load has gone from 1.28million at the start, to Undetected at weeks 8 and 12. I am on triple therapy for 48 weeks, and as I had an early virological response (EVR), my chances of a cure (SVR) are 80-90%. The side effects (Sx) are mostly fatigue which can be tough at my age (69yo).
The trial you mentioned will be with an antipolymerase, ? with Ribavirin and with an antiprotease (Incivik). I would grab the opportunity to get rid of the virus, particularly as you have fairly severe liver damage.
This forum is wonderful for support, and there are many people with experience of all the Sx etc.

Its been a while since I have been on here but have very recently started on this trial which definitely includes Telaprevir but maybe also the Roche. I have been suffering with terrible anxiety issues in the lead up to this treament but hoped they would sort of go if I started doing sometime about trying to sort out killing the virus... Only been on the treatment for a few days and my anxiety levels are completely off the scale....going to ask for medication at my first visit because not sure I can cope with it all. Trying very hard to be rational about it all....thinking I am being looked after by people who know what they are doing etc...thinking about all the good things that I have going for me...saying to myself that it not unusal to feel anxious but they are suffocating me.....any ideas tips gratefully received.
Good Luck to you and glad you have joined the fight!!
