I'm on week 23 of triple tx, and I've had the annoying chest congestion since week 2. Just dealing with it, knowing it will go away in 13 more weeks.

I read Once that one of the meds causes mucous To keep eye on it and Pnemonia. My experience is if I don't overly hydrate I will start coughing and coughing and can't stop Till I get lots of water in my system. Also, water flushes out mucous Let your doctor know what is going on We have to stay on top of our symptoms As they go from uncomfortable to bad if ignored. Hope drowning in water brings u same relieve Yes my husband has even caught on when I start coughing.... Drink water :) JoAnne

Brain, I'm doing triple tx with victrelis as well(wk 11), I've had a bit of bizarre congestion deep in my throat. It is more of an irritant than an active problem like a cough, although my throat gets sore from trying to clear it out. Sometimes I'll get tired of it and take something like MucinexDM.

Ditto! I've had that cough the first time in treatment and this time around too! It's caused by the Ribavirin. Had an X-ray done last week, all clear. It can be very annoying and gets worse when I'm lying down. I do take Zyrtec and Benadryl, can't say it helps.

I'm on week 14 triple with boceprevir. I've just about reconciled myself to most of the side effects, including exhaustion, nausea, breathlessness, sore tongue and metallic taste, etc.
But shortly after treatment onset, I started developing a wracking bronchial cough, which usually begins in the afternoon and gets progressively worse through the evening. I cough until I almost pass out; my chest muscles are sore; I really can't go anywhere in the evening--like a restaurant--because the cough simply doesn't let up. I'm afraid I'm going to have an aneurysm or break a rib or something. I'm sure it becomes annoying for my long-suffering wife to be around me.
My doctor/PA said I could take zertec, but that's a joke compared to what I'm suffering. Has anybody else had this sx? What did you do about it? Did it go away?
