It's interesting, My MD has had me taking B-12 shots for the last 4yrs. But she has been at a loss as to why it is so low or what caused it? Maybe my Cirrhosis?

Thanks for the feedback and interesting comments everyone!
Yes that`s right Margo, and if you type vitamin D in the search box at the top of the page you`ll see several threads where this has been discussed before. Here`a link to a recent article from the Hep c Trust too -
Interesting about the folic acid too, Dave, I`ve read about that somewhere as well.

I can't remember (anything anymore ) where I read it so no documentation but I believe Folic Acid was cited postively as well for TX duration in one study. I took B-12, D, and Folic acid every day during my treatment. These were the only supplements I took (asides from a lot of Ammodium AD)

I tend to be a skeptic about thse things (never took Milk Thistle) but vitamin B12 and D3 seem harmless at worse and may help me at best. And the studies look pretty well founded. Just back from Walmart with both.

Adding Vitamin B12 to hepatitis C virus treatments significantly improved the body's ability to keep the virus at bay, according to a new study.
The new study, published online in the journal Gut, found that the effects of B12 were particularly strong in patients whose infections had become difficult to treat.
Good to know Jill, I've been munching 5000MCG of B-12/daily to try helping my periphral neuropathy.

Hi Jill,
Thanks for the info...
Being vegatarian, I have been taking B-12 (or b complex) in one form or another for many years. Great to know that it has benefits I was unaware of;)
