Hi Caryn, Type 2 diabetes is one of the extrahepatic manifestations of HCV. Treatment can also cause insulin resistance, which is associated with diabetes. A glucose tolerance test (GTT) tells you your diabetic status. A fasting blood sugar and insulin tells you your insulin resistance status. Both can be treated by one of the oral hypoglycaemics such as metformin.

Hi Caryn, please don`t ever worry about asking as many questions as you like here, even if you`ve asked the same thing before, it doesn`t matter. It`s always better to ask again than be worried, and the good people here are always happy to help.
(By the way, if ever you want to check your previous posts, just look in the " Posts" box of your user profile info, all your posting history is there.)
All the best to you, Jill xx

Has anyone been diagnosed with diabetes as a result of HCV? Okay, I cannot delete this post, or just don't know how if it is possible, but I think I have asked this question in the past. Sorry for repeating myself. I can't even imagine what the brain fog will be like once on treatment, because it is horrible right now!

Thanks Cinnamon Girl!
Thanks again, Malcolm. There is so much to learn.
