Yes, a sense of humor almost always helps, and I've found Duane to certainly have a good one, even in his stressful times lately. That sure helps me!!!

That, nor 'Edit > Sellect All > Delete' works with yahoo mail. And I also have some legit emails in there that are not ready for deletion nor to be put in a folder yet. eg The email with tracking # / status information for my Sov / Riba order scheduled for UPS delivery tomorrow, which shows to still be sitting in Nashville TN at the moment.

Yes you have. I feel much better knowing you understand the issue.
Deleting a few emails is generally no problem for me, and this move will put me living within 1 mile of the liver transplant center where my Tx Dr. is, rather than the 54 miles that I have been traveling. So it's certainly worth a little Riba Rage to get this done.
So I'm happy (and sore) in my new location today.
Thanks again for keeping our awesome forum up and running!

Hi again Mike, thanks for the clarification. Yes, unfortunately that is what happens when you subscribe to a topic, you get an email notification for every new reply, and with a busy active thread it means that they can build up in your inbox. That is the way our forum software is set up although I will look into it. And please don`t apologise for using this existing thread, it was a logical place to post your question!
I`m not surprised it all got on top of you yesterday after a strenuous day of moving, that can be a very stressful activity at any time, never mind when you`re on treatment!! Not the ideal time to move house but sometimes these things just have to be done, and I hope you`ll be happy in your new location.
I hope I`ve answered your question anyway.

Thanks Jill, but I like to get those digest emails daily so I can keep up with what all is being discussed in all areas of the forum while I'm not logged on. I also do want to be notified via email of activity in my subscribed threads and also of private messages. It's just the repeated emails for each thread that I was originally having the issue with.
For example: When I left home yesterday morning at 8am, I was subscribed to Duane's thread "I guess it was to good to be true". Between 11:02am thru 5:15pm there were 14 postto this thread (5 of these post were by Duane) and then 5:16 is at which point I returned home and joined in the conversation.
I had emails notifying me of post to this thread and also some other threads that I was subscribed to, which is what I wanted. I also had notifications of post to some threads I'm subscribed to on other forums, which is also what I wanted.
But when I got caught up with viewing all the new post and started deleting the notification emails, It took some time, much of that on deleting 14 emails for 1 thread etc. etc.
The other forums I post on send me 1 email to notify me that there is a new post to my suscribed thread, then it will not send any more email notifications for new post to that particular thread until I have logged in to view the new post. This eliminates the need for deleting multiple emails for notifications to 1 topic.
I am just wanting to know if anyone else is getting multiple emails for new activity in a subscribed thread, even multiple notification activity for post by the same members different post within that thread (as with Duane yesterday).
Deleting extra emails is usually no problem for me. It's just that yesterday I was short on time and completely worn out from moving all my belongings to another city with nobody to help me. I guess I was a prime candidate for getting a taste of what Riba Rage feels like LOL.
I actually should have opened a new thread for this subject since the original desired solution by nohcvforme in this thread was:
I would prefer to log in and check to see what's up on my own.
I'm sorry for creating confusion because of this.
This is the only issue I have with the forum. Otherwise, everything is fine and my many thanks to you and the mods for keeping it going for everybody!!!

Hi Mike, sorry you`ve still been having this problem and I can see how annoying it must be to see these notifications in your email inbox.
As you`ve unsubscribed to all topics now you shouldn`t have any further problems. And yes, now that you`ve changed your setting to not receive email notifications of private messages you will only see them when you`re logged into the forum, if that`s what you want.
I did notice in your profile settings that you have the `Email Digest of New Topics` set to `Daily` and you can change that to `None`, or I could do that for you.
Let us know if you have any further problems and we`ll see what we can do to help. Jill

I set my "Receive email notifications of new private messages" to 'No' and I have unsubscribed to all subscribed threads. and I will no longer check the "Email me whenever there is a new post to this topic" box as suggested but I suspect the result will be that I'll no longer be notified of a private message until I log in to the forum, and I will not receive any notification of a new reply to a thread that I do want to be notified of new reply's. But we'll see how this works 1st.
Is nobody else getting multiple email notifications of new post to the same thread?

If Malcolm's suggestion doesn't work, check the bottom of your next reply on that thread (or any other) if you have checked the box on the lower left corner of the reply/post window to notify you of any posts left to the thread, it will continue to send you notices until it is unchecked. Here is the box I'm referring to (below). Aside from it, the suggestion Malcolm gave you is the only user controls we have for notifications here on the forum. Tig

Unless there is something I'm missing with 'My Settings', this problem still exist. I deleted all inbox items before I left town @ 8am. @ ~3pm when I came home I had multiple email notifications from the same thread which was active this morning on this forum. I have not been a board moderator but I have a friend who is a mod on a V-Bulliten powered message forum, and his control panel has a settings option that sets it so that after an email has been sent to your address notifying you of a new post to your subscribed thread, then no other subsequent notifications will be sent until you have visited that thread. (Must be logged in to verify visit).
I don't know what software powers this board, but if it's similar to V-Bulliten then changing this setting would sure help me. This is of course if everyone else is also having this issue. It's really not a big problem, but it does tend to get a tad annoying on an otherwise questionable day. JMO

If I give you my email address in a private message would you forward a few of these emails to me, with the complete header still attached? There is an explanation for this. Chances are they are being forwarded from another address or something like that. But the address you are currently using is not subscribed to any emails from the forum. Actually, I think my complete email address is sown in my profile. Send me a couple to look at. Alan

Well I'm pretty baffled as to why this is happening - have checked your settings and you're not subscribed to the Email Digest. When you post, if you don't check the box that says "Email me whenever there is a new post to this topic", then you shouldn't be receiving notifications for these.
If you let me know which notifications you are receiving, I'll contact tech support and see if they can offer any explanation.

No, you shouldn`t automatically get email notifications. You should only get them if you`ve set your profile settings to receive email digests of new topics (which you haven`t) or if you tick (check) the box marked "Email me whenever there is a new post to this topic" when you post a comment.
If you go to your User Details you can see if you have any "Topic Subscriptions", and if you have you can "unsubscribe" to them.
Let us know if it happens again! Jill xx

Hi there!, I think you can go to your profile page, then look for the line that says settings, when you get there....you'll find a bunch of different options, one of them is e-mail digest of new topics...choose "none". Also I have e-mail notice of private message turned off too, although the only way to know if I have a message is to log in here. Hope this helps. Blessings, Iris

Hi nohcvforme, I`ve just had a look at your settings and the email digest is not the problem (thanks Iris), as you have it set at "none" already, unless you`ve already changed it.
