Hi Michaele..this is an interesting post.

Last Sunday I was having dinner w/a friend, felt a sharp pain in my foot...looked down and had a knot in the bottom of my rt foot.  Since this time-I am unable to walk on the foot w/o pain.  Had an MRI and it looks like I have something similar only in my foot not hand...I thought it might be an age thing....crazy!!!

PS...I have not done tx as of yet-not sure when or if...and am delighted that I am still welcomed to this forum;)

Hi Michaele, please don`t feel bad about putting tx on hold for now, you`re right, it has to be your decision and if the time`s not right for you then you`re doing the best thing.   Don`t forget you`re still welcome here any time at all, this forum is for everyone effected by HCV, not just people doing tx, and it`s nice to have you around.

Hi Michaele, you are correct, there is an increased incidence of Dupuytren's contracture in cirrhosis. However, not all patients with Dupuy. have cirrhosis, and only about 10% of cirrhotics develop Dupuy. The cause for this relationship is unknown. Liver fibrosis is a direct result of cytokines stimulating stellate cells to produce collagen (that leads to fibrosis) , so there is no association with the palmar fibrosis of Dupuy. Severe Dupuy. can be treated with surgery or radiotherapy. Cheers.

Hi all, I feel like a deserter for not doing the Tx with all of you , but sometimes ya got to go with your gut, and the labs, too. I noticed some areas in my left palm that look callous. And also a small area on underside of finger. Well, it appears it may be Dupuytren's disease which can cause contracture of fingers. Ive just read there is a correlation between Dupuytrens and cirrhosis. But They dont know what causes it and it is benign except for the contractures. The contractures are caused by fibrotic cords that develop under the skin. So cirrhosis causes fibrosis of  the liver and the development of these cords in the hands. Does that mean if they figure out how to stop the cord growth in the hand they could figure out how to stop/ slow  it in the liver?   Hope your all safe and dry, and feeling as well as can be expected.
