Thank you Jill, Jim, Greg, Matt and Biggyb!
I am grateful for all the support and words of encouragement. I received my week 24 lab results (end of treatment) and the viral load is still undetected! Now comes the true determination of whether or not the treatment worked...must be undetected in the next 3 lab tests over a 6 month period.
Stay positive, maintain a good attitude and healthy life style and above all keep on fighting. I wish you all a very successful journey and happy endings.

Finished treatment this past Thursday 4/12!!! It was a great feeling not having to take any drugs or the shot on Friday There's still 6 more months to go on the Clinical Trial, which consists of 3 post treatment blood tests. All 3 test results during these 6 months must come back with UNDETECTED virus for me to be considered "CURED". I hope and pray that will be the case. Thank you very much to all of you that communicated with me and I wish you all the very best. I'll stay in touch, Joe

Hello everyone! End of week 20 results showed viral load still UND, hemoglobin holding at 10.9 and all other results are normal. I'm on week 22 of 24 weeks and this coming Friday I take my 23rd shot which will leave 1 to go!!! Take care, Joe

I`m doing fine, thanks Joe! Yes, that level of Hb is bound to be making you feel tired, unfortunately, and having to put up with that constant pain sounds like a very unpleasant sx. Are you in touch with other people in the same trial?
Sounds like you`re coping well with maintaining your normal daily activities though, and that must be a big help in keeping you moving forward. Just be careful not to overdo things though!
Best of luck, keep going! ~ Jill

Hello Jill! I hope you are doing well. I'm holding up relatively well so far. I have fatigue due to low Hemoglobin, although it is holding up ok, and constant pain at the base of my neck that is typical SD of one of the drugs. I'm maintaining a social like and continue to exercise, but not as vigorously as prior to the treatment. I'm hoping and praying that I'll be undetected at weeks 20 and 24 and after treatment for 6 months so I can get that elusive SVR Take care, Joe

Hi Joe, congrats on still being undetected, that is good to hear! Your Hb is holding up pretty well and is actually slightly higher than at your wk 12 results...how are you feeling now? I`m glad it seems to be going by fast for you, not too much longer to go now!
Thanks for the update, Jill

Hello everyone! I haven't been on here for sometime...since my week 12 results update. As of my last checkpoint, week 16 on Feb 13th, I'm still undetected! All other results were normal, except Hemoglobin that is at 10.9! Next checkpoint is week 20 on Mar 14th, then 4 weeks remaining. Time sure is flying by. I hope all of you are doing well

Well Malcolm, it looks like you are doing pretty well yourself! You are at week 45 with, I'm guessing, 3 weeks to go and your Hb is at 8.5. That's really good compared to what I have seen.
I wish you the very best on a successful treatment.

Hello everyone,
I received my end of week 12 (treatment midpoint) lab results today. Viral load still undetected. Hemoglobin 10.8, low white and red blood cell counts, all other labs normal. Unfortunately I have caught a bad cold which is not helping how I feel. Now I'm counting down the weeks
To date fatigue and muscle pain in my upper back have been the worst side effects.
I hope everyone going through treatment/clinical trials are having success and doing well physically and mentally.

Hello Malcolm. Thanks for the congrats. Yes, I have some side effects. So far, the worst is fatigue and I get out of breath doing physical activity. I can't do my runs anymore, but I can jog and do floor exercises with light weights 4 times per week. I had a rash on both arms that itched and burned a lot at times, but after the Mayo Clinic treated it for a week it is completely gone. I do have some muscle pain, especially in my upper back and base of the neck. Gums are becoming sensitive. So far so good for being almost done with week 8. Merry Christmas and I hope all is well with you

Hi Bill! Malcolm is correct. My clinical trial is a phase 3 quad treatment for 24 weeks comprised of weekly shot of peg interferon alpha 2a, Asunaprevir (protease inhibitor), Daclatavir (ns5a protein inhibitor) and the always "fun" Ribavirin. So far the trial being done world wide is experiencing very promising results.

Hi Bill, Joe's trial is for 24 weeks, using a NS-5A blocker, a NS-3 blocker and Peg and Riba. BMS did a Phase 2 trial without Peg and Riba, and only achieved an SVR rate of 36%. Another small Phase 2 trial using Asun. and Daclat. and Riba had 100% SVR rates for Geno 1b. For Geno 1a, Peg. was required. The impression I get is that the NS-5A / NS-5B blocker combination is doing best in the Interferon-free combinations ( although Riba may still be needed).
This is a link to Joe's trial. BMS are also doing a Peg. free trial.
I'm glad BMS is still in the game But is the one above still using Peg and Riba ? I see it mentioned

I received week 4 results last week. VL less than 25 (same as week 2). Disappointed. Hemoglobin and red blood cells a little below normal. CK enzyme 1200 very high. Told to stop vigorous exercise, especially no weight lifting. I should have results for week 6 later this week. I've started my 7th week. It's going by fast I hope you all are doing well.

Hello JoAnneh! So far I've had to abandon my 6 times per week 5 mile runs and settle for jogging and light weight exercising for 45 minutes per day 5 times per week. My skin itches and its difficult to go up the stairs in my house. Unfortunately, it's a 4 story house so lots of stairs But I'm happy with the results...so far.
