Or maybe request a fibro scan. I had one lasy year which meant i didn't have to endure another biopsy which is painful and carrys a significant risk (1/1000) I think of an adverse reaction

Absolutely. At a time when my biopsy showed F3 fibrosis, the VL was merely 37'000
Perhaps the virus was not very active but 30 years of living with it took their toll ....

It's my understanding viral load is not all That important in damage of liver. It can fluctuate. Yet, having Hep C with NO viral load is important. It means virus in not active. Biopsy Is best test to get a good description of Liver damage.
Crystal, in a previous post you stated you had end- stage liver disease with cirrhosis from chronic Hep C. I have trouble accepting that this is the first time you've had a Viral Load done, and that your doctor is too busy to discuss it. What gives?

Crystal, I would imagine that someone living with end stage liver disease, such as yourself, would have a good enough relationship with their doctor to get any answers they need....
I just got my 1st viral load count done though i've been living with hep-c and many of it's compounded problems over the years. I had to fight to get this and have no idea how to read it. I says,
HEP-C QT RT-PCR IU/ml 210000 <43 IU/ml
HEP-C QU RT-PCR IU/ml 5.32 <1.63 LogIU/ml
My main question is," the "210000", is that actually millions, not thousands?"
2. Whichever it would be, "How good or bad is that?"
3. What is the formula for reading this myself?
I can't find anything online and i value my dr, but she thought the test was unnecessary at my level of health so she just ran through it quickly.
