Well, Malcolm (Mallani) can get you best advice, since he has most experience in the medical field
In my personal opinion,i would opt in for clinical trial (it's short, compared to 1year of normal interferon based therapy)....and if you do not respond to it, you can awalys opt in for traditional therapy. Of course before any clinical trial or standard therapy u will have to redo Fibrosure (if u plan to avoid biopsy).
best

Thanks,Zaklister.
Clinical trial with Abbot for 3 months.
They will give you 1. HCV protease inhibitor +ritonavir+HCV NS5A inhibitor.( comes in one pill)
2.HCV polymerase inhibitor
3.rivavirin
I can take part in another trial from other company.P' sceening is over for this trial.
I did fibrosure( first & last) in 2006 & found to be normal.Biosy never done before.
I was about to participate in trial & my friend told me to think about standard treatment.

for GT 1 as i know, dual therapy (PegInterferon+Ribavirin) SVR rate 50-60%, triple therapy (PegInterferon+Ribavirin+DAA like Telaprevir) 70-80%
Some people on this forum passed clinical trials (Gilead's GS-7977) and achieved SVR.
Have you done any liver tests other than blood liver enzyme levels? biopsy, Fibroscan or Fibrotest?
New meds without Interferon are couple of years before FDA approval (hence clinical trials), if your liver is healthy and you feel no symptoms from hep c, you could wait for few years with some diet restrictions...
me personally would opt in in case of several particular DAA meds that are in clinical trials phase 3 now

Hi nym,
Since it's been 6 years since your fibrosure test, you could do with a more up to date test to assess the condition of your liver. As for any decisions about clinical trials versus SOC treatment, I would advise you to make yourself as fully informed as possible and get your liver condition checked out first. Have a chat with your Hepatologist and ask for another fibrosure or a biopsy.
There is a lot of info in the Knowledge Base and you can also use the search box at the top of the page for any specific info. Please be aware we are not a medical forum and can only offer opinions.
Thanks,Zlikster & greenqueen for your advice.
