This is a great forum. My first home base. I ended up getting so confused on Riba that I lost the site. lol. I managed to work, but like you had to keep up a good face even when I was totally confused.
I didn't tell anyone. They thought I was kind of quiet at times. It just took me twice as long to respond to some things.
All my best to you, Karen:)

Hi99 and welcome!
i just have finished tx (Peg/Riba) and i am also GT3. Hope you can nail RVR (UND @ 4w) so you can opt in for 16w instead 24w (if everything goes well).

Greetings 99! There are pages of great tips and stories all through this forum. The greatest help will be the support for all the fun side effects and there are many! I'm taking the same RIBA dose too and recently started the Victrelis. That added a completely new auditory response, rushing water on top of the rest. I'm amazed at the body's reaction to this stuff and will be thrilled like the rest to say goodbye to the virus and the treatment. Hang in there and stay in touch!

Glad you mentioned the cycling sound. I've noticed that already as well as my tinnitus is really loud. These are really strong drugs.

Welcome TN99
Great forum with great people here. No sx with your Peg is a good first sign. Let us know how your doing. Lots of people that have the same Genotype and or have done the same treatment as you that are glad to help.
I still get a disassociated kind of feeling from Riba sometimes not to mention the famous Riba rage. . Also get a cycling sound thing with a noise like an AC unit or something that should be a steady drone. Ask my daughter about it a couple of weeks ago and she looked at me like I was weird lol.
Take care

Thanks for the warm welcome. This forum is a huge resource for information. Meeting with the doc today to review initial blood work after starting tx and discuss any troubling sx. So far so good...I guess check with me at week 12+, I may be singing a different tune ;)

Hi TN99, welcome to the forum! Well done for taking your first shot, sounds like it went ok for you. The side effects do vary quite a lot from person to person, and the riba can make you feel quite strange until you get used to it.
Steatosis (fatty liver) is more commonly seen with genotype 3, rather than with the other genotypes, but it`s likely to improve or clear up completely after you`ve cleared the virus.
Hope your tx goes well and you have a smooth ride, at least with gen 3 you only have to take the 2 standard tx meds and not the triple therapy which many of our members are on.
Stay in touch, keeping fingers crossed for you too! ~ Jill

Hello all, lovely forum.
I'm a geno3a and am about 5days into tx. Peg and lots of Riba (weight based 1200mg 2Xd)
Got a pretty clean bill of liver health after the bx...slight signs of steatosis, but otherwise good news. Decided to begin treatment while SVR chances are pretty favorable.
First shot done on Friday (06/28/2013) evening without much fanfare.
So far so good. Wondering if anyone has noticed a disassociated feeling? I'm chalking that up to the large Riba dosing. It felt like people were talking to me in a foreign language at work and I could read emails, but nothing was really sinking in; just robot like most of the day.
Bit better today.
Fingers crossed for minimal sx...or a least ability to tolerate. ;)
