I saved it as a jpg. I'm using Firefox.  I will try Internet Explorer next.

I am doing some testing to try and discover what's going on with the avatar upload process. Right now I'm on my Apple Macbook laptop, and am using Firefox Firefox Version 22.0:

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0

At this time, the upload feature for the avatar in user's profile will not upload the image (showing as my avatar) from my computer.  In fact I have instead used an image hosting site called  Imageshack.  I use the avatar image's URL to link to, in the forum's avatar editing tool.  The "address"(URL) of my current avatar is actually:   http://imageshack.us/a/img844/8862/ekrx.jpg 

Perhaps this may be a solution, as they say- "there's more than one way to skin a cat".  

Try making it a .jpg file format.

What file format are you saving it in with photoshop dust bear? 

I did both. But I will try cropping again.

No, we don`t have a help link, Dustbear, sorry!  The admin team, myself included, try to sort out any problems, if we can.

I reduced it to 21KB in Photoshop and it still won't save. That's as low as it goes.

Hi dustbear, there is a size limit for avatars, so you could try reducing your picture and then try again.  Let us know if that works. 

I keep uploading my picture to the Avatar and when I click 'save' it disappears!

Just for reference- my avatar is 12KB(file size) and it's dimensions are 200 x 139 pixels.   Edit:  avatar changed.

I don't know what the exact maximum limit for avatar images are for this forum, but something in the size range of my avatar is 'probably' close.  As mentioned, the image you want to use for your avatar has to have a file extension like .jpg(.jpeg, .JPG, .JPEG) or .png(.PNG);  a Photoshop file(.psd) or bitmap file(.bmp) would not work, and work need to be converted to .jpg or ,png.

There might be other factors, like the web browser that you are using on your computer, such as Firefox, Safari(Apple) or Internet Explorer(Microsoft). Which web browser are you using?
