I'm covered by Medicare disability and have a high dollar secondary that is required to pay for my pharmacy expenses. The biggest charge being my Hep C meds of course. Well I just received a letter from my secondary insurance company informing me that because of the Affordable Care Act, aka OBAMACARE, that my insurance policy is being closed as of Jan. 01, 2014. The only option being made available is a lower quality plan that increases my monthly premium from $350.00 to $500.00 and increases my annual deductible from $1000.00 to $6250.00! This is for a secondary, it's not even a full coverage plan! What really frosts my tail was the note informing me that they will no longer approve the HCV medications being provided by the specialty pharmacy that has been providing them. I guess it's fortunate that my doctor has decided to end my treatment early, because I will no longer be provided coverage due to OBAMACARE! I suggest all of you in the US, contact your insurance provider and determine what your coverage will be, if any at all, before you get started on treatment. Those on treatment now may need to figure out other options before Jan. 1st. If I had been required to take treatment out to 48 weeks, I would've had to stop. This healthcare reform is not ready for prime time, regardless of what he government wants us to believe.

Sorry to hear your experience with the affordable care act. Not sure you are getting the right info or maybe it is the state that you are living in...here in MI I have found it a life saver over 13 companies to choose from.
Been self insured since my first job...Currently, I pay $500.00 a month with a $4,000.00 deductible. I had to cancel testing this month because I cannot afford to pay the deductible and I have insurance. With the new insurance options this would not have happened. I have never seen such wonderful pricing for the current deductibles plus they cannot refuse pre-existing conditions.
Sure hope you are able to find another option.
