Welcome to the forum Bernie. I'm glad you decided to post. Is your treatment scheduled for 12 weeks or 24 weeks. I'm basically on the same Rx's as you and also have experienced minimal side effects so far after 9 weeks.
Thank you to all for the great welcome.
I'm on the 12 week treatment plan. I'll be done on 11/6/14.

Welcome to the forum, Bernie, and glad this has been informative for you in the last year. Now that you are not lurking anymore, you'll discover that the forum is as much about personal support as it is information. No matter what happens, odds are a forum member has been through something similar and we're always available to discuss the good, and occasionally not so good news regarding our battles with HCV and liver disease. Good luck and glad you are now with us!

Hi Bernie,
Welcome to the forum, I'm glad you decided to introduce yourself! It sounds like you're familiar with various medical treatments, so this will hopefully be easily tolerated, as well as successful. Your genotype is one that responds well to the prescribed protocol and it appears with your plummeting viral load, you have the dragon running for the hills!!! I wish you continued good luck and hope you keep us informed of your progress.

Hello everyone! Have visited the site many times in the last year (after being diagnosed) and found the site/posters to be very informative.
Was diagnosed with 2b last year during pre-op testing for thyroid removal due to cancer. My viral load at initial testing was over 5M and it seems I was infected via a blood transfusion during a bone marrow transplant I had in the late 80's for leukemia. Due to other medical issues/concerns, treatment wasn't recommended until late this summer. Was pleasantly surprised that approval for treatment (riba 600mg 2 times per day and sovaldi 400 mg) was given in less than a week. I currently am in the middle of my 6th week of treatment and fingers crossed...the side effects have so far been minimal.
Prior to starting the meds my viral load was repeated since it was over a year old. Those results showed over 10M. Just received the results of testing after the 4th week and it shows I am <15 HCV RNA detected. My physician seems quite pleased at the current results..."almost undetectable and mildly anemic which was to be expected". Here's hoping the results of my end of 8th week blood work are even better!
Thank you to all for the great welcome.
