If for some reason you can't get Harvoni, there are other combo's. In my 1a treatment naïve case, the AbbVie combo actually has the best clinical efficacy rate. I don't care whether I am swallowing 9 pills a day or one, just so I don't have to repeat treatment, I will be happy. I would have preferred to forgo the Ribavirin, but so far (2 weeks) it hasn't caused me any issues. Merck's number aren't too bad either. It's all preferable to Interferon shots to me.
Thank you.. I will be pushing hard for the fibroscan on the next appointment on the 7th. I did have a very extensive ultra sound done by someone who knew what is going on and had done all my imaging since I had Tc 17 years ago. He knew why I was there and he loves my body because he can see very well and my pictures are in his books. Needless to say is that fibroscan is my next priority .
I beat a 100 % Chorio Carcinoma tc death sentence ,and with help and new meds ,hopefully this also .I have read up on the meds, and I guess if I need something, now is the time.
So here I go again .. I appreciate all of you for being here ,and although I have confidence with this Dr, it is the other parts of the system I learned to watch like a hawk . My grant to cover everything is golden, and I understand this isn't going to be easy, but I am ready . I am sure I will have many other questions ,and I can use all the help in keeping everything focused.
Thank you all for being here. R

Hi Rob,
The RT stands for Real Time, as just refers to the type of assay.
You Viral Load is 23.5 Million, which is high.
Geno 1a may be slightly harder to treat than Geno 1b, but with Sofosbuvir, there appears to be little difference. Certainly if a Protease Inhibitor is used, the 1b's do a bit better.
You need to get your liver assessed, by Fibroscan or biopsy. Then, if you have little damage, you can afford to wait until you can access Harvoni. Cheers.

Not with all the good new drugs coming out gunning for 1. Now I think genotype 3 may be more challenging.

OK, I have the lab report
HCV log 10- 7,37 Hep C Geno 1 a with I think it is RT? after the geno type so 1 a rt.. I have a whole page of results for the blood test, so I don't know what else to include. Let me know and I will post everything. I don't have a scanner
I guess I got the jack pot. 1a is the most difficult to treat?
Thank you
Dr is scheduling Fibro immediately ..
