Thank you so much everyone for the support and input! Living through a bad New York City winter is leaving me fatigued all in itself I'm sure, but the vitamins I've used in the past to feel better will just need to wait until spring this year when treatment is finished.

Hi D, welcome!
I must say I agree with what others have said about vitamin supplements. As far as vitamin D is concerned we usually get sufficient amounts from our diet, for example foods like eggs, milk, oily fish, vegetables, and products which contain added vitamin D, as well as from exposure to the sun. There have been studies though which suggest that there is a link between Hep C and low vit D levels in which case a supplement would be beneficial. But it would be best to have it checked out with your doctor before taking it, or any other vitamins, as you don`t want to overload your body with excess supplements unless they`re really necessary.
I understand your thinking about finding ways to overcome the fatigue and you may well find that it gets easier as you go along. Apart from that...take extra rest, avoid stress, do a little exercise, get enough sleep and keep yourself well hydrated!
Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Hello D
Welcome to the forum from me as well, you have found a great place with members that have valuable insight into all things HCV.
The supplements during treatment is something you and your health care team can help you with, but most of the members here have greatly reduced or completely cut off most supplements ,herbs and vitamins as not to over burden the liver with extra processing work.
IMO it doesn't mean that taking a Vitamin D in the winter would wrong, but taking numerous vitamins and herbs without a founded need would detract from the treatment.

Exactly my thoughts! I cleared my body of everything for a month prior to treatment not wanting to chance it. I was just ccurious if there was any new info regarding that. I'd like to try getting back to an exercise routine over the weekend and see if that helps the fatigue. Thank you so much!

Hi! I'm new to this forum and just completed my first week of Harvoni. I feel now that the slight side effects I had been experiencing my first few days are getting better. As for the fatigue, I am wondering if it is ok to begin taking B12 and Vit C again...as well as D3 as I was prior to treatment?
Hi D.
Welcome and congrats for getting on Harvoni! What Mallani said - - check with your doctor. My docs (gastro and primary) had me stop all vitamins and supplements. They even took me off Crestor for cholesterol. The only script they kept me on was a Fosamax type drug for osteoporosis. They were okay with taking Aleve once in a while if needed.
But that was a few months ago -- things might have changed since then. See what your doc says before taking anything. You don't want to do something that could interfere with the golden bullet!

Hi D,
Welcome to the Forum. Some more details, like Genotype, Viral Load and treatment duration would be useful.
The usual advice for all supplements is to get them approved by your Hepatologist.
Good luck with your treatment. Cheers.
