Hey Steve, hoping this works for you. I finished 24 weeks and was und at eot. Tried to get my doc to prescribe Riba with Harvoni but she wouldn't do it. Hope it was the right move. As Jill said, the viral load result is the key. Like you, I've had the brain fog but it seems to be a bit better after ending tx. Please keep us posted on you vl report. Take care.

Thank you for the positive advice. the last 3 weeks have been real tough. I've had a cough since 4-21-15. I was weezing so doc percribed me some antibiotics and steroids. Been in real bad brain fog for the last week. Started back walking today. just one more week to go. Still not clear why only 12 week with Harvoni and Rib. saving money I guess. Told doctor I wanted to do 24 weeks per protocol. But he insisted 12 weeks. Need to stat positive. But it sure is hard sometimes.

Hi Steve, don`t be too alarmed, there could be various reasons why your liver enzymes have risen and those numbers do fluctuate anyway.
Just wait for your viral load result, that`s the important one.
Let us know when you hear, good luck!

Ten weeks results are coming in. I so confused now. my AST has risen from 24 to 46 and my ALT has risen from 29 to 61. Still waiting on viral load. What does this mean ? 4 week viral load was undetectable.
( 4 weeks) Still waiting on viral load results. Alt came back @29U/L down from 96U/L 2 months ago. AST came back @ 24U/L down from 68U/L 2 months ago. I couldn't believe it. I'm so excited and can't wait for viral load results.

Steve,
This is my first good news of the day too. Congrats are certainly in order! These new treatments are so different than those of the recent past. I smile each time I hear a story like this. Hopefully it will help spread the news that the treatment for HCV is no longer to be avoided. The harsh option is coming to an end.
Your numbers are excellent and absolutely indicate the treatment is busy taking care of business! I won't be surprised to hear the virus is gone or teetering on the edge of the abyss.
I'm happy for you and your family. You've all traveled a long and difficult road to get to this point. I think the journey is about over. Time to start planning your new Hep C free future!Good luck and let us know when you get the test results back. Good luck...

4th week check up and lab results. Today was one of the happiest days of my life. Virus is GONE. Wife and I shared tears of Joy. I could feel that the treatment was working. Was staying positive and eating right, walking and drinking lots of water. I'm keeping all negativity out of my life. Well most of it. it was so awesome to tell my family. My family has been by my side through 3 interferon treatments and they could see I was hurting. WOW I still can't believe it.

Hey Steve
Your week four lab results will be a very happy day for you, I have not heard anyone that did not reduce to either UND or less than 200 on their test results for 4 weeks into treatment with Harvoni.

Hi Steve,
Exercise, good diet and plenty of water are the three things that will help through the next 8 weeks. I'l add in the positive attitude that you have with tx is as important as the other items. You're on the right path and await seeing your 4 week results! Good luck!

Hello again, Steve, welcome back! Wow, it has been a long time!
Great to hear you`re on treatment with Harvoni and riba now, that`s excellent news.
Riba can irritate the stomach and cause heartburn, among other delightful side effects, so make sure you take it with food.
I`m really impressed with your walking! Exercise can be very beneficial while on treatment, especially when you`re already in a good routine with it, and getting out in the fresh air too. You may find have to cut down a bit as you go through the 12 weeks so listen to what your body`s telling you.
All the best of luck, this is your time I`m sure!

Hi Steve,
Welcome back! It has been awhile but I'm glad you're back and starting treatment again. This will be very different than your last experience with Victrelis! I did the same protocol and remember it well. As Gator Man mentioned, it's likely the Riba causing your issues. I hope that improves, but Riba is a thing all of its own. If the runs dont let up, ask your doctor if it's okay to use Imodium. It will help control that. The headaches came frequently for me and my doc approved Tylenol or the occasional Ibuprofen.
I hope time goes by quickly for you. It will be far quicker than your last. just like last time, get your rest, eat a good diet, but above all, hydrate! Increase your water intake to 3-4 liters per day. Many here have mentioned a decrease or end to their headaches after increasing their water intake. It's worth remembering anyway! Good luck, let us know how things are progressing.

Hi Steve,
You are probably correct about the Ribavirin being the cause of your sx. The good news is that you are only on the combo for 12 weeks, and generally well tolerated compared to prior txs. You have an excellent chance of success this time around!
Good luck and keep us posted!

Started Harvoni and Ribivirin on 3/25/2015 for 12 weeks 1200mg Ribivirin per day. Things went real well the first week. 2nd week headaches and the runs. Most likely from my experience it's the Ribivirin.
