Thanks Dave, I am on basically a Mediterranean diet. I eat very healthy as I did before treatment. I also exercise daily. I am trying to avoid more meds. I appreciate your feedback. I will definitely keep my doctors involved.

Hi Doreen,
As others have said, keep your doctor involved but not to worry while still on the Harvoni and a while after.
To add more "Good" Cholesterol to help keep the "Bad " Cholesterol down, you may want to consider a Mediterranean Diet, it's a healthy lifestyle that helps a lot with those numbers ... Here is some information and ideas on the Mediterranean Diet
During Tx is not the time to worry about those numbers other than to have your doctor involved in monitoring them several times per year.

Hi Doreen, just to let you know I had same issues but last test showed closer to normal levels. Good and bad cholesterol still a little high but ratio between them is good so doctors said not to worry. Like you I am small framed and eat right and exercise but with family history still need to watch at my age. I did add more oatmeal and oatbran muffins to diet when I saw numbers going up. Just keep a watch on things .... Hopefully your body will adjust and reset. Best Wishes on your TX.

Hi Doreen,
Welcome to the club! So glad you're here. Looks like you're about finished, congrats! I hope the rest of your ride has been fairly smooth.
There aren't any professional references (that I can find) to Harvoni being specifically responsible for elevated Cholesterol levels, but there are comments made on various blogs by people like yourself and here, that mention this occurence. If it was something that persisted post treatment, I'm confident that there would be more discussion on it. So many things can be affected by these medications, it's not uncommon to witness fluctuations in several lab values. I wouldn't worry about it until after treatment and then retest. If you do, be sure you check with your Hepatologist before starting a Statin drug while on treatment, if that's your Cardiologist's plan. Often physicians aren't aware of what meds to avoid while on these HCV medications.
Stay in touch and let us know how things go. Two more weeks, yeah! Good luck...

I am going on my 10th week of treatment and the last 2 monthly labs indicate a significant increase in my cholestrol levels. (total chol. 258 with LDL at 160!) Hep.C is no longer detected, YEAH! I am concerned that this rise in chol. is due to the treatment. I have not changed my diet and exercise every day. I am petite and not over weight. My cardiologist wants to put me on Rx to lower chol. I want to wait and see if it gets lower when treatment is finished. Any similiar situations?

Good luck Ragdoll. I'm starting my 3rd month of treatment next week. I hope this is the final hep c go around. My hep doc said we will know more when I'm tested in 6 months for Chol. No reason or was explained. But at the same time I have been taking better care of my self. So far I have lost 20lbs. Thanks Rick

Yes, I had same thing happen. At 12 weeks, end of treatment ,I get a call that I was undetected but CHOL was 240 and usually 180. Nurse said this is normal as liver is getting used to its job now without HCV. She said not to worry it should be okay down the road. I go for post EOT 12 weeks next week and we'll see if CHOL is back to normal and prayfully still undedected. Chris
