I'll be finishing 12 weeks Viekira Pak+ Ribavirin on 5-27-15. Not detected at 4 and 7 weeks. I'll have 16 days worth of Ribavirin at 1200mg a day left over. Am I going to toss it in a drawer to rot? Hell no. I'll take it another 16 days! Added insurance in my opinion although I'm sure my Dr. would tell me not to. Can't hurt, Hg and RBC just a bit low but no cause for concern.

Hey John
Congrats on completing your 24 weeks of Harvoni & Riba. I am 28 days behind you.
Your question about continuing the RIBA after your Harvoni runs out is a interesting one. My question if you don't mind is, did your doctors prescription call for this continuation of RIBA or do you have left over Meds from a previous treatment? The reason I ask is I will have some left over RIBA also both from a previous treatment and adjustment (reduction) during this last 5 months.
I would ask my doctor, but two questions came to my mind being in a similar situation how will taking just RIBA effect our bodies ability to ramp up our immune system during the first four weeks after treatment? Riba does help suppress RAV's during treatment but it also suppresses most patients Red, White blood cell production which contains a lot of the components that control virus and other good immune system warriors. Knowing what your CBC lab results at the end of treatment may help you with the decision.
I know your feeling of giving it all you can and leaving nothing on the table (so to speak) so if your CBC is in good shape it might be worth doing.

Congratulations on being done, John! Since you are fortunate to not have any sx from the Riba, I would take it too. I believe that the 5th time will be the charm for you!

Hi John,
Congrats! I'd probably take the Riba too. If it's not causing you any problems, why not? As Malcolm mentioned, insurance is good! This is your time, finally...

John,
Considering your history, I'd take it. I'd want all the insurance possible. Whether there is data for this is unlikely. Up to you buddy. Good luck.

All done! 5th time is a charm I hope!
This board has been so important to me throughout the years - good people exist!
Questions for my crew:
I still have about three weeks of Ribavirin left - I have no side effects with it - should I take it while the Harvoni leaves my body?
