Thanks for your observations, although Ribavirin has never actually been out of the game. It was a standard part of the old SOC treatment with interferon and then the same applied when the first generation PI`s, Victrelis and Incivek became available, they were always triple therapies. And don`t forget some people are still doing them or just coming to the end.
As you said, it continued to be part of the Sovaldi treatment when that was approved, and is still included in some DAA treatment protocols. And it can be used as an added boost with Harvoni for some patients depending on treatment history and liver damage.
No doubt at some point there will no longer be a need for our friend ribavirin but it`s still playing an important role.

I have just completed 48 weeks treatment which included Ribavirin. Und so far. Fingers crossed.

I have been following the literature. Eighteen months ago, ribavirin was essentially dead as a part of HCV therapy. In the fall, it was back in the armamentarium in addition to combos like Harvoni. Today, the role is increasingly clear for cirrhotics with genotype 1. If you fit this category, ask your doctor.
