When it comes to the Hep C drugs and Gilead I really have nothing bad to say. Heck, thanks to them I no longer have it after 40 something years. Sadly, there are so many many people who are not getting to treat cause they can't even get the prescription because in places like Oregon the doctors refuse to give prescriptions to anyone with Medicaid - even if they have cirrhosis. If people could just get the scripts, Gilead would help them.
What I was thinking of though are other drugs and companies making a killing. It's all such a mess. The doctors and health authority here blame Gilead but Gilead offered the state a really good deal last year providing they would let everyone treat. Oregon refused the deal. So, who knows who is at fault.
In my earlier comment I was thinking more of huge companies and how everything is based on money causing many to lose out on things like basic health. When you're poor everything seems dog eat dog. But I do love Gilead!

Ruby. The cost to. To find and discover, research,test and get approved. Etc is enormous.it often takes years to jump through all the hoops,and it takes. Alot of money. The intrinsic. Value of money is time. With Harvoni. They had pieces of the puzzle and. How many of us here have benefited? Just. Look st the forum. Here and count how many people who now on a daily. Basis post. "Eot undetected" how many people are posting. Svr. And there are a bunch more coming: is thst worth the cost? Yes in so many ways: whst about. Harvoni 2,0 that will give the same results for those with diffivult geno? Is thst worth yhe cost? You betcha to those thst have them and across the board even the health. Systems. Insurance companies. Who balked now are rushing to get people on harvoni now because they know ultimately. Cheaper overall.
Tig would know this. Where he and i are from was ground zero for the sttack of pain meds. Big pharms had nothing to do with it.. it was a mother who didnt know what her daughter was doing.she was taking huge numbers. Of pills and od'd. It eas everyones fsult but the moms or daughters.. people who are in legitimae pain management. Study after study. Do not abuse their pills. They dont get high from them as the meds level. Yet now millions of legitimate patients suffer horibly: that is the crime. It. WASNT. The pharmas who made them or the legitimate drs who prescribed them it was the prople who abused them. Without the researchers.the pharma companies. And the investors. Who fund them. We would not be seeing on this forum. The begging of an avalanche. Of eot undetected. And the svr from here.....no doubts. About that. A wave is coming. And it would not be if it wasnt for in this case Gilead and their investors taking the leap..::.. ps. I am courious as to the number of people just here who got the treatment

Hi Rubye, thanks for sharing, especially the first paragraph. Your description is very close to a formula that can be dropped into many different areas of our existence.
Harvoni has given me a glimpse back of what I lost many years ago, in regards to health and quality of life. And the effects, though subtle are noticeable at incremental steps. Hearing others and I see that you have cleared, is most hopeful. Had no idea I was so face in the dirt. This is an excellent website for those that have and are still suffering the effects of geno 1 and for those who want more imfo.. The last 20 years the Dr.'s told me go home we have nothing for hep c geno 1 a or b. Contracted it 47 years ago. My stomach even seems to be deflating ; ) . Jill put up an article on hydration, which I backed off some on my water intake and it seems to be better. Now I wait until I feel thirsty. Although, when I take the pill, I drink a glass of water before and 1 after. For the most part, have not had any stomach issues. Take care glad you're here. Thank You, Marsha aka coolheat

I actually find it sort of scary. It's like they make up all these medicines and sell them at huge profits only to find out a few years later they are more detrimental than helpful to the body. It's like with pain pills in that we had perfectly good pain relievers in the opiates and then they go and make all these synthetic drugs and talk bad about the opiates so they can get you on the new drugs and come to find out the new ones are just as addictive as the old school ones but have worse side effects. Of course this is simply how I see it but it all just seems so terribly sleazy to me.
Now, on the other hand, good drugs do indeed come along. God bless Sovaldi and all its cousins. I suppose the question is how do you get big pharm to behave in an ethical manner. I'm not holding my breath on that one. Thanks for the article Tig.

I am not sure about that it is aboutthat. I think it is more thst so many things in regard to medicine and the understanding. Of it via genom.it was early 90,s when the bios started to come to together. I am certainly greatfull
