Hi William, so sorry you`ve been in hospital with bleeding varices, that must have been a horrible shock and very unpleasant. The banding should keep the bleeding from happening again, but it must have left you feeling very drained.
Like Matt, I was surprised that you`re still having problems with varices at this point, and after clearing the virus, but hopefully you`ll gradually see some improvement in liver function.
Great news that you`re still undetected, I know you`ve been waiting to hear and that must be very reassuring.
Take good care of yourself, and do keep in touch and let us know how you are. We`re here for you any time!

Hey Basser
Sorry to read of your unscheduled trip to the hospital, hopefully all will improve as time passes. Can't help but to wonder why you would have this at this time after being 6 month EOT plus your 12 or 24 weeks of treatment . One would think time much time would have diminished your odds of it from happening. Any thoughts?

Thanks Liam, and I understand about the different reference ranges.
So those are looking fine, and you`ve already had an `undetected` vl result at 4 weeks post EOT, so I`m sure you have nothing to worry about.
I think most of us expect to feel a lot better very soon after finishing tx but in many cases it just doesn`t happen that quickly. I know it`s very frustrating, and you`ll be so relieved to reach that 12 week point and find out for certain! Try to relax as best you can and I hope you start noticing an improvement in your energy levels soon.
Keep us posted, and take care!
Ps - Hope you`re enjoying your stay in Thailand!

Hi Jill,
THankyou for your reply, my ALT is 44 the reference range is 30-65 U/L and my AST is 23 reference range 30-65 U/L
I am currently in Thailand where I got these blood tests done, they use a different reference range to Australia.
Thanks for your words of advise

HI Liam, good to hear from you.
I agree with Tig that you just need to give yourself more time, it`s quite usual to be feeling fatigue and low energy at only 8 weeks post tx. Your platelets are on the low side but that isn`t something that would be causing you to feel tired, I`m sure you`re just still in the recovery phase. 24 weeks on such powerful drugs is a long time, and the effects from ribavirin are known to hang on, in fact it takes about 6 months to clear from your system.
If your bloods are within normal levels then I`d be very surprised if you weren`t still undetected at this point. Do you know what your ALT and AST levels are?
I know what an anxious time it is while waiting for such an important result as your 12 week post tx viral load, but do try not to worry, I`m sure you`ll be fine!

The fatigue is probably just a post treatment effect that will improve with time. Your platelets aren't something I would be concerned with. I have seen them at half that number and people do fine. It messes up your clotting ability when they get too low, but you shouldn't have any problems at your level. Even if they drop significantly, there are many things that can be done to correct it if needed. Given time, you should see everything normalize, I wouldn't stress over your numbers.
Post treatment recovery can take weeks or months, especially since you were on Ribavirin. It took me between 6-12 months to finally get my strength back and Riba is well known for taking its sweet time to clear. I doubt seriously that you're detected, the odds are remote at best. With your liver profile being within normal limits or close, tells me you have no inflammatory processes going on in the liver. Do your best to relax and know that pre test anxiety is normal. We all experienced that and can relate to how you're feeling. Don't worry buddy, it's going to be fine!

I just had my 8 week EOT bloods done excluding viral load test. All are normal except my platelets which are 139( at 4 weeks EOT they were 151) the range is 140-440 and my GGT is at 12 range 15-30.
Would this be the cause of my tiredness that seems to hit me every afternoon or am I just still detoxing from 24 weeks of riba/sol? I actually feel much the same as I did before I started treatment.
Also was wondering is it possible to have normal bloods and still be detected.?
I know I am suppose to relax and start healing after treatment but the wait for 12 week bloods is proving a very anxious time for me. I guess I just expected to have more energy by now.
