Greetings to all and in particular to the new members just beginning to poke around here. I went back 369 posts counting this one to my day one here.
I have been through a lot since then. Approved, delayed, started and failed. Waiting now to board a new train approved by the Doc yet holding for a nod by the almighty Insurance Company. (They ought to just go on and get on with it because I can get rather loud if I need to. I am one of those guys folks would gladly pay $184k just to shut up LOL.)
All that said I want to assure each and every visitor and new member that you have found the right place. If you intend to get in a fight you want the strongest of brothers at you back and that just so happens to be where you have landed.
So jump in and join the winning team of Dragon Slayers that are Born To Rise. Leave you inhibitions at the door along with any fears. You are NOT alone!
And yes I will make noise if I have to not just for me, but also for anyone here.

I saw this thread a little late so a belated welcome to you JimmyK. You have found an excellent source of information and support here so make yourself at home. I agree with your decision to wait until the Cozumel trip was over. It's important to keep your treatment as top priority and being that it is only for a few months it's a small price to pay for an excellent chance to beat Hep C. During my last treatment other health issues took priority over my treatment and I ended up having to do it again. I just started treatment #2 today so we will be traveling this journey together. Good luck to us both!

Hey Jimmy,
You're really gonna pass on the Time Mag fifteen minutes of fame?
You've made the right choice by delaying your start date to a time when it will be easier to stick to the program. These new drugs, Harvoni and Viekira, are a miracle, just like your avatar portrays, and it's a blessing for those of us who have been able to wait. But it's really important to keep to the dosing schedule.
My husband and I both started Viekira and Ribavirin 5 days ago, and so far have had minimal side effects (sx). He gets mild headaches of short duration, and I'm pretty much sx free. I get more tired than I've ever been before, but it starts around 7:30 each evening, so no big deal. On the up side, I can't remember when I've slept so good.
I hope you and your wife have a wonderful time on the cruise. Come back in the fall and let us know how you're doing.
Penny

Thanks y'all I appreciate the kindness.
Update: I just put off Tx until October 12th.
The wife and I are taking a cruise on Oct 4th and as a redhead the thought of burning myself to a crisp in Cozumel was not real attractive. I am already a redhead so I will start on my return and yes I checked in with the Doctor and no problem. I have the first of three shipments here so the date is pretty solid now.
We originally booked the cruise in anticipation of being clear by then and beyond treatment. The reading here was helpful in making my decision. My choices were pretty simple.
1) Cancel the cruise and start now.
2) Start now and sit in my cabin with a towel over my head avoiding pools/ people in Bikinis/ and all around fun.
3) Start now and go on the cruise and make the cover of Time Magazine as that smoldering pile of burning flesh in Cozumel.
4) Hold until we get back home and start in earnest.
Yep #4 was the best option.

Welcome Jimmy, glad to hear you're close to starting tx. I did the Harvoni for 24 weeks and awaiting my 12 week eot labs scheduled the end of July. Can't speak for the Viekira pack but have done Riba twice in the past. If you have the option, I would do Harvoni, if not the Viekira is having good results. For some the Riba is a pain, others seem to tolerate it ok. The Riba may cause more side effects. Does your doc plan to do Riba with the Harvoni? some prescribe it, others don't. Good luck in your treatment, be well,
Jimmy, whatever decision you make should be in conjunction with your doctor.

Hello Jimmy,
I am about halfway through treatment with viekira pak and ribavirin. My experience was the first couple of weeks I had adjustment to the drugs, didn't feel well: tired, nauseated, riba rage :), feeling hot.
Made sure I drank plenty of water. I'm in week 7. Most of those symptoms are quite gone or far more manageable. Everyone is a bit different so you may have no problems at all.
Wishing you an easy ride and a cure.
I was not undetectable at week 4 but not everyone is. Just waiting for the final labwork.

Hello to all.
New member here. I will begin treatment this week sometime using Vikera and Ribovirin.

I suppose I will just look around some. I have been aware of having Hep C since roughly 1995. No issues as yet so blessed.
Anyway Hello all!
