You are right to be concerned about your mother, and I`m glad you found us. I think that as it`s been a month or so since your mother stopped her treatment it would be unwise to start it again without discussing it with her specialist. After such a long break she may have to wait a while and then begin a new course of treatment.
Is there no other doctor who is standing in while your mother`s specialist is away on such a long vacation? Who was supposed to be supervising her treatment during that time?
I see you live in Lithuania, so could you tell us what treatment medications your mother was taking, please? Sorry about all the questions! I`m just trying to get a clearer picture of the situation.
Try not to worry too much.. I`m sure this can all be sorted out and your mother will eventually be free from Hep C.

Hello, my mother has Hepatitis C genotype 1b. Last time she was tested, I think it was about 4 months ago, her viral load was 6 million UI/ml (I realise this is still considered high, but her previous loads were even higher). About a month ago, on a whim, and because her specialist was on vacation (and still is), she decided to stop taking the medication, on her recent test, her load had jumped to 8 million.
I'm worried, and I'd like to ask if she can continue the treatment on her own until her doctor gets back without any serious side effects (some fatal ones, or really adverse ones that are very rare).
