Wonderful to hear this, Dm, congrats on your first UND result!
And please know that you certainly do deserve this, just as you deserve all of the good people along the way who`ve contributed to the process of getting you here.
Hang on to the feeling, knowing that the treatment is working is a huge motivator even through the darkest of riba days!
Thanks Cinnamon Girl,
I appreciate it.

DM,
I'm so happy for you! I was just thinking about you yesterday - you started viek/riba about 1 week ahead of my hubby and me, so you're kind of my 'benchmark'. Bet you've never been called that before!
You keep up the good work until the end, cuz I'm watching you! Congratulations!!

I've been called a lot of things!
Good luck with your labwork.. and keep us posted. Must be difficult with 2 going at once...but at least you can remind each other to take pills... ugh.

Hey Jack
Way to go! This is a day that you will learn to cherish (UND). What it means physical is just as as important as the mental part. This is a great sign because your body is responding to the Meds correctly and cleared your blood of the HCV, its a really big step but now its on to phase 2 of your treatment, finding the remaining spots within your liver and other areas of the body that replicate the virus and stoping them. Thats why its important to stay 100% compliant for the full 12 or 24 weeks of treatment because this HCV is a very stealthy tough SOB and we / you will not give it any chance to mutate to a resistant form of the virus by the consistent pounding of the meds.
BTW Jack are you doing 12 weeks or 24 ?
Nice to read of your feelings on your HCV journey.

Matt is correct. Everybody clears during, it's after you stop when it could (small chance) come back, so be very diligent with your meds throughout! It's a huge first step, but more steps to go.

Thanks Scruffy,
The riba cough haunts me daily. Been to doc 3 times about it, chest x-ray, etc...... but its not painful , so not complaining...just super annoying.
Funny, it took 8 weeks to get really bad.
Staying 100% compliant for sure.... 3 more weeks.

Those words (undetected) are great to hear esp. for your moral. They make the riba a little easyer to take. Hang in there and be 100% compliant for the rest of your TX.
CONGRATZ!!!!

I never thought I would see those words on my lab reports.... but there they are...I am in shock and it has still not sunk in... it seems like a dream. I never believed that I would see the results I'm seeing in my lifetime. And even better tx is on the way!
So much gratitude to all those that blazed the trail, the research hospitals, the people that went through all of the trials....my original pharmacy nurse advocate, who got me authorization, even though my own insurance company would not let me use her pharmacy. What a battle.
My boss , that gave me the one semester off for interferon/riba tx...WITH PAY!
And let me take the day off when I felt too bad to go in on round 2, which was only about 4 days so far, but still, he was so understanding and said " we will work with you on this". You are my hero! Pretty ironic cause I had him in class 15 years ago, now he is my boss. .... lol.
You are my heroes.
I do not deserve any of this and if I could give UND to any of you on this forum , I gladly would.
Now..... the people who are not my heroes >:(... you were the ones that gave me a hard time on the phone, you were the ones that treated me like I knew nothing about this virus, when in fact I knew more than you...I studied hcv for 9 years and learned all I could from the internet and books, and would have learned even more except my chemistry sucks...(music major, lol) .... you were great at reading pamphlets, but that was about it. (that being said, I never had a specialist, only gastros...and I swear I would have done just as well with my gp.... but I could't talk him into it...but I almost did.
Non-heroes... YOU know HCV has a certain stigma, please show a little compassion and know all you can know about hcv and tx. Hope I don't sound bitter , but I had to fight with many who seemed to be unqualified to deal with the intricacies of this virus and tx.
Now just got to get to the 12 weeks check and then they do a blood draw in a year??
Guess I could read the pamphlet. lol.
ps - I mysteriously acquired what I call the "smart people phone #" for the largest online pharmacy in the u.s..... Also the most difficult one to deal with. If you think you are using this pharmacy, feel free to pm me and I will give you this phone #. This is NOT the phone # you see on their web site....(of course).... and what a crappy website....I quit using it as it cause more problems than using the phone..I think it was designed by a junior high computer tech class.... pathetic. Which sucked cause everytime I had to talk to a rep... I physically got nauseated , it was bizarre, and I hated talking to them on the phone....until I got the "good" phone #!!!
sorry to blather on... its the 3 riba crankin' me up.
Now I know the bottom line is (at this point I am UND), that being said, maybe I am being too hard on the my non-heroes. But did you have to make it so hard???
I agree. It's another of Tig56's excellent information finds so let's "Sticky" it here":
