Careful about antacids during treatment. Read the link they gave you below. I had gastritis issues prior to treatment and found it all went away during treatment. But returned sadly when I stopped. I am back on Zantac and Tums daily. I didn't want to risk taking anything that would interfere with that acidic environment that Harvoni needs to work. I normally don't crave sweets but during treatment I HAD to have sweets almost daily!! I enjoyed my fresh baked cookies etc. Thankfully that craving left me LOL. I have had bloating for years and I still bloat after my dinner meal. I did have it during treatment but it could have just been me.

Hi Judy, confirming your bloating and lower back pain. I will be 1 mo. post tx this sun.. Also am just being able to say I am not bloated anymore. We used to refer to me as a frog in the am, and by evening I was like a toad. Start all over again next am.. I still have some low back pain and L hip pain is pretty bad. Trust it will all iron out. The day that Gilead said the drug would be for the most part out of my body, my headache was totally gone. Hang in there, our alternatives are not very appealing. The people here have made a major difference in how my treatment went and in enhancing my life. Glad you are here Judy, and thanks to all the other warriors. Marsha

I had problems with heartburn before treatment. I used pantoprazole occasionally before tx but stopped once I started harvoni. What works for me is yogurt (the calcium in food is safe) at 1st signs of heartburn. A few table spoons stops it dead in it's tracks. I had some bloating and constipation at the start but it seemed to go away soon after it started on it's own. I also had lower back ache and still do to a degree. I found magnesium citrate (has to be citrate...that's safe) works for muscle cramping and drinking more water works. Stretching and and rolling on a medicine ball to massage myself aggressively helps greatly. I think it's pretty typical what you are going through. I found drinking an extra 2 litres of water (I already was drinking 2 litres before tx) helps a lot...you really need to flush and detox yourself. Hang in there...I finish week 18 of 24 tonight...it goes fast and will be well worth doing in the end.

Judy,
We do have members here that have experienced the same issues with bloating and I'm sure they will chime in soon. In the meantime, here's a link to several other firsthand descriptions of the problem. Just know that you're not alone!
Read this section before using any type of antacid or acid reducing medication. Do not take anything like Tums or Rolaids 4 hours either side of dosing! It can and does reduce absorption of the drug.
Hello everyone...I have a question. I do eat healthy but am noticing after my meals that I get very bad cramping and bloating. Lower back and lower left side aching some also. I don't know if I should be chewing on gas-x or antacids to help. Has anyone else gone through this?
