Hi Observer,
You've probably got low platelets and the Prothrombin Time may be increased. All part of cirrhosis. We live with it. Cheers.

I'm soooo tired of easy shallow bruising. Happens mostly on my arms, makes me look like a decrepit old fart. Doc says it's cirrhotic and should have been looked into years ago. I choose to believe it's going to improve after SVR, I hope yours does too.

thank you, I will. I have avoided iron rich foods in my diet, perhaps now that my liver will function again and actually process iron, I will be able to eat pomegranates and spinach again. That would be awesome

Hi, get your doc to check your blood clotting screen as this can cause brusing also - there is no need to be worried and as has already been stated just a platelet issue. Good luck,

I think that`s the best thing to do, Alison, and your doctor will be able to advise you. You don`t need to worry about an Advil or two now and then, that`s fine, and keeping up your water intake is very sensible.
Do let us know you get on after you`ve spoken with your doctor.

Thank you Cinnamon Girl, I am not taking anything at all except the holkira pak and 600 mg of ribavirin (twice daily) ...well I have taken an advil twice for headaches but find water works so trying to avoid that. I will call them tomorrow, I don't have bloodwork scheduled for 10 days.

Hi Alison, it sounds like you could have a reduced platelet count, as that can can lead to bruising easily. Are you taking any other medications, which might be interacting with the Holkira Pak drugs? People with cirrhosis tend to have low platelets anyway, and it`s possible that starting treatment has made this worse.
I would let your treatment doctor know what`s happening as soon as you can, and in the meantime please be careful not to hurt yourself!
