Hi RC,
The medications being developed and exported from India have been vetted and were licensed/approved by Gilead under an established agreement. Here's a bit more information from this very strong advocate's blog that may provide the length of read you expected. We are all free to express our thoughts and opinions. I appreciate you sharing yours.
I'm going to make up a make belive country. Lets call it Pharmo. Ok in Pharmo there is law, but its diffucult to enforce, Pharmo is overpopulated, the umemployment rate is 75%,for most folks in Pharmo life stinks. Manufacturing in Pharmo is loosley oversighted, and fraud is rampid. Could it not be possible for a company in Pharmo to misrepresent its export to other countrys? What if its misreprenented product could kill you? I think before I accuse big pharmaceuticals of greed and money grabbing, I should let them figure out if the imported product is the real deal and safe. I felt that the gregjefferys read was short on facts to support calling out gilead as a money grabber! RC

This is almost unbelievable. We all know that Big Pharma, and in particular Gilead, care more about profit and greed than about patients` lives, but this news is totally outrageous.
I find it hard to understand why the Australian government are letting them get away with this, and the consequences will be far reaching and very damaging.
Greg Jeffereys` blog is well worth following, thanks Tig for posting this.

Looks like the stupidity and greed is going global [smh]
"A sudden and unexpected development has occurred that reminds us that the reach of Big Pharma into governments and bureaucracies is profound. Because of its money and influence we have just seen how Big Pharma is threatening to postpone or stop the release of generic Harvoni in India."
