Best things to do during treatment and right after?

Hey Freesoul
These are great questions, during treatment I felt that along with good diet was keeping your blood moving by daily walking/exercising. The drugs first clear the blood of HCV then the rest of the time they have to work on the clearing the liver and other organs. So being compliant is number one followed by diet, exercise and good quality sleep. Meditation can be useful also.
After completion of drug portion then the real healing begins with more of the good diet, exercise and quality rest. A year or more later you should notice a real difference if you follow the healing process. Most of us Hep-C patients expect two much to fast, remember it took 20, 30, 40 years to get here, so it will take some years to heal back the where your health should be for your age.
All things in time.

What are the things that you can do to give yourself the best chance of success during treatment?
Some are probably the common sense ones: don't drink alcohol, eat a healthy diet, stay hydrated...but maybe there are other, less obvious ones? For example, I was told not to drink grapefruit or other acidic juices like pomegranate.
Does it matter if I smoke socially sometimes? What about exercise...I started walking/jogging again now that I have a little more energy. I have a few pounds to lose- should I wait till after to try? Anything else?
I only get 8 weeks of treatment, I want to make it count!
Also- what about after? How soon after the last pill (and hopefully SVR!) can one stop worrying? Or, for example, have a celebratory high fat meal, or the very occasional glass of wine? Any opinions? I don't have any cirrhosis if it matters.
