Wow Laura! If a smile like that comes after brain surgery then I'll call my doctor and request a brain scan first thing in the morning. lol
With this latest good news I'm convinced you and Tom have an enthusiastic guardian angel on your side. I'm so happy for you both and I expect more good news as your recovery progresses. Thanks for keeping us up to date. You two are an inspiration to us all.
And Mena, you and Angelo not only have the same awesome hospital in common, you also obviously shopped at the same guardian angel store as Laura and Tom did too. "Hep C 24 wks. SRV - UND! HCC Tumors all gone.". That's really great news and I'm sure you and Angelo have big 10 gallon smiles on your faces as well.
I'm so happy for you all!!!

Mena and Angelo,
What do you mean hijack my post....that is wonderful news Mena....so very happy to hear. Tom's ablation went well too but they wanted him to have radiation treatment as a precaution that they got it all since the tumors were so close to his diaphragm and lung. that is wonderful news and we loved Dr. Tabori. Dr Buckstein completed Tom's radiation treatment as his case was talked about in treatment team meetings for months. I go back the 15th for a swallow study and Tom to see Dr Buckstien. Then I go back in Jan to check up on my vision. You are right, our appointments never seem to coincide with meeting you both. I believe it will one day. Tom will need to continue his MRI's now every three months so there is a chance we may meet. I am so happy to hear that things are going well for Angelo as can imagine. We spoke of you both while we were down there wondering if it was possible that you may be somewhere in the hospital as well. Please keep us posted on the progress as you are both in our prayers. 'As I have said before, we stay at the Mt Sinai Transplant Living Center and have met many recipients and donors. This time Tom did as he stayed while I was hospitalized. Stay positive, as we are. I plan on changing our picture to one on the day I was released from the hospital, Tom finished his last radiation treatment, and of Allyson, the manager of the TLC and a recipient herself. It isn't so great of me, but we are so blessed to have somewhere to stay while we are there. Everyone, thanks for the positive comments......I'll keep posting and pray that all of you beat this...
Fondly,
Laura

Hello! I don't mean to hijack Laura's post, but the subject is the same for both of us " Mt. Sinai Update!
So here it goes"On October 5th, Angelo had an ablation done on the 10% still viable tumor. Stayed overnight in the hospital to make sure there were no complications. On November 11, we went back to hospital for a follow up MRI and blood work. Great news,
AFP - 8
Hep C 24 wks. SRV - UND!
HCC Tumors all gone. There is one tumor on the other side but it is not cancerous.
Going back again on January 22, for another MRI ,and meeting with Surgeon and Transplant Doctor.
Laura is so right, everyone on this forum is wonderful and caring. thank you all so much!
Faith is what brought us through this and we thank GOD every moment for our blessings!

You guys are amazing! I'm glad the surgery went well and you are soon back to 'normal'.
I hope Tom's radiotherapy did the trick. I hope to hear the HCC's are gone in your next update. With SVR, he has an excellent prognosis.

Hi Laura,
I'm so glad to hear that all went well for you both! I've been waiting and yes, praying that the news would be positive. Prayers are answered in these incredible ways! Let me congratulate you both now, because I'm sure that this is meant to be.
We are all glad you're here too. We have all learned so much from you both. Your ability to stay strong and goal oriented, has proven to us all, that the power of positive thinking is real. You keep believing in yourselves Laura (and you too, Tom)! Don't forget that you both have that awesome vacation coming too! We expect to see some pictures of your well deserved "Happy Dance" when you hit the dance floor that first time!
You have already made the best donation you could possibly give the forum Laura. You have given of yourself, shared your journey, and the happiness you have brought to us all, is more than you can imagine. We look forward to all the coming "positive" updates!

Hi all,
three weeks today since I had my chiari malformation surgery. It went well, still healing and sore but getting at home care. Tom completed his radiation treatments while i was hospitalized and it worked out great. They gave him a certificate of completion the day of his last treatment. The team was awesome. WE both go back the 15th, me for a swallow study test because they feel my swallowing difficulties must be related to something else as well because it is too serious. Tom sees his oncologist Dr Buckstein who we love. We won't know if his treatment with the ablation and radiation worked for three months, We will go back for an MRI then to see if the tumors are gone. We pray they are. Staff at the hospital were awesome as they can't believe as positive we both are with all that is going on. I believe in positive thinking. Have PT at home and balance slowly coming back. Have 8 more sessions than outpatient for 6=8 weeks. My vision is still very bad. Go back in Jan and they are hoping it will improve some once the swelling in my brain goes down. They will refer me to a neuro eye doctor then and see what they can do. Tom is still hep C free and we are finally believing after 20 years of treatment, he beat it....very happy. He is now taking care of me. I know this sight isn't about me, but I feel I know all of you and wanted to keep you posted on both of our progresses. I told you previously, I joined a chiari forum and hated it. People were so negative, and I felt no support and it actually made me scared to have the surgery....so I'll continue to take advantage, lol, of all of you and vent when I need to. Hope everyone is well. Wondering how Mena and her husband Angelo were making out. I know he is on the transplant list and we share ss a few of the same doctors. Hard for me type andsee still so excuse my typos and such. met quite a few transplant recipiants at the living center...well Tom did as he stayed there this time aroundl It makes you see your life in a different perspective and gratful for each day you live and are healthy. We pray for all of you and again, I am so lucky I stumbled upon this web site years ago. It has saved me from going crazy and has been a wealth of support and information. When i go back to work, I plan to make a donation to keep this forum going as with all our co payments and such, money has been tough with travel back and forth and such. I want to personally than the monitors that make this all happen. Grateful and hope Tom's story and many others give others hope. Love to all and will
keep you updated again hopefully with continuous good news.
Fondly,
Laura and Tom
PS I will be needing to update his signature line to hep c Free shortly.........
