Congrat's Ross on getting started. I suffered through 2 different cold type viruses while on my 24 week Harvoni ride. First time I can remember ever having two "bugs" in one season. Having previously relapsed I didn't want to take anything that might jeopardize my tx. As Tig said, you should check with your doc before taking anything. Most cold viruses run their course. Good luck, SVR is will be yours in the New Year. :)

Hello Ross, I agree about cold remedies, it`s always best not to take any extra medication as much as possible when on treatment, it helps keep your blood results `clean`. Although sometimes it can`t be avoided.
How are you feeling now? Your initial side effects sound pretty typical, most people find them to be fairly minimal especially compared to the old interferon based treatments.
Wishing you the best of luck, and do let us know when you get your lab results.

Hey Ross,
Congrats on knocking out week 1, you're on your way! There are plenty of others that wondered if the drugs were working. Trust me they are and are so much easier than the old Interferon protocols. No comparison...
As far as the cold medication is concerned, it depends what is in it. Gracie is right, it's best to contact your doctor's office and ask. They will want to document the use of anything you add to the mix anyway. I would steer clear of anything with herbal supplements in the list of ingredients.
Let us know your next lab tests when you get them back. Good luck!

It's pretty simple compared to the old regimes with mild side effects. My weirdest one was craving sweets.
There would be no issues with cold meds that I know of, but you could check with your pharmacist or doc first if your concerned. My hepologist recommended I get a flu shot. I just finished 6 months and had no colds or flu's throughout.
The only VL that counts on this treatment is 12 weeks post. Everybody clears during treatment at some point.
Best of luck to you!

After one week of Harvoni so far so good. Had minor headaches the first two or three days but after that all is well. Compared to the old treatments it makes you wonder if this is working. I get me first blood work next Monday but only the basic CBC and another set but no viral load. I did have a question can you take over the counter cold medicines while on Harvoni?
